Monsterverse Godzilla Needs a Power-Up: Bringing Back Toho's Best Moves!

Legendary's Monsterverse already has plenty of awesome nods to Toho's classic Godzilla movies. But there are still so many awesome moves and powers that haven’t been explored yet; and the potential for introducing new and creative content to these characters has grown immensely, creating new levels of excitement that only a true Monsterverse could create! It's already delivered intense action—but Godzilla has so many cool abilities; creating massive expectations which continue to develop. It's time to take this series to another level!

We've already seen some of Godzilla's best hits; such as those iconic attacks such as the atomic breath and those extremely powerful tail whips in this recent version; and some additional creative approaches such as evolving Godzilla further to increase attack and defensive capabilities. But each new enemy requires a response and we want something far more significant! This opens the door to something far bigger. 7. Judo Throw: A Classic From Godzilla's Worst Movie (Seriously!)

Godzilla's Revenge (1969) is generally awful, and disliked among many Godzilla fans for several reasons – it's almost entirely stock footage, showcases that ridiculously annoying Minilla, and its antagonist is totally forgettable. Yet, amidst this weirdness: there’s one legendary moment that made a truly epic moment: Godzilla’s judo throw against Gabara! It’s so absurd that it's glorious. Evolved Godzilla needs to show some signature moments and could easily turn that ridiculous, awesome attack into that surprisingly humorous nod toward Godzilla's worst movie ever created.

That amazing move appears in Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000), one of those lesser-loved Godzilla movies; and it is easily understandable as to why: Megaguirus isn’t a truly memorable or tough threat and is simply overpowered. Godzilla uses this epic professional wrestling-style move (jumping from super high to execute that totally badass move) to totally wreck the gigantic insect, highlighting its absurd power. We already got an incredibly athletic Godzilla (Godzilla vs. Kong) - This iconic, insanely absurd wrestling-style body slam could add a creative and cool touch; possibly a massive leap from a building or cliff top—and adding a completely epic twist and utilizing all those newly found advantages inherent to Evolved Godzilla.

Monsterverse Godzilla constantly upgrades his atomic breath (a process done effectively, throughout that timeline; showcasing its continued relevance and significance and continuing the legacy) Yet, one thing’s missing: that insanely powerful Spiral Heat Ray, that ridiculously intense blast used both by Heisei and Millennium Godzilla. This normally requires a power boost and a supremely tough boss would absolutely be necessary to be used for that truly iconic ability, making an absolutely powerful statement of power output. If there was an instance to create an ultra-powerful, unstoppable Godzilla—it's during this one crucial fight against this highly formidable, almost unstoppable opponent.

4. Flying Drop-Kick: The Absurd Move That Somehow Works!

Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) gifted us with Godzilla's legendary flying drop-kick; absolutely nuts! But it is ridiculously cool! And this could totally work now in the Monsterverse. That super-athletic Evolved Godzilla makes a super high, ridiculous leap, possible. He already does this kind of high flying, almost impossible feat of skill and speed to do those amazing super effective takedowns on Kong, especially, and Shimo making the introduction of something quite unexpected and absolutely brilliant. This new approach provides yet another unique advantage. It needs to jettison that silly floating part; otherwise it remains just as totally, unexpectedly hilarious and wonderfully absurd.

3. Dorsal Plate Slash: A New Close-Quarters Weapon!

In Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, Godzilla used his dorsal plates to absolutely decimate the creature; making this an amazing technique capable of completely overwhelming its foes! That's a key move rarely seen! In the Monsterverse, Godzilla hardly uses his plates, even for powering up! His Evolved form—super sharp everywhere, crazy fast— could easily wield those awesome spines to create these amazing slashing, close-quarters attacks that only those kinds of upgraded attacks could enable and could produce.

2. Metal Manipulation: A Magnetic Kaiju Showdown!

That totally nuts move in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)? Godzilla’s temporary magnetism—allowing him to control metal–it is amazing. This has a cool power, an unlikely power! That crazy ability’s never reappeared—it would be completely awesome if this returned; it's entirely plausible if the Monsterverse introduces a robotic kaiju (we’ve got plenty of references pointing towards such an introduction, hinting that it could eventually happen!). Adding these totally outlandish elements is another great direction to take that already exciting plot!

Godzilla's atomic breath is pure awesomeness—the Monsterverse has totally nailed it. But 2016’s Shin Godzilla made it even more extreme! His blast is pure destruction but Shin Godzilla could unleash energy through his dorsal plates and tail—multiplied devastation. Monsterverse Godzilla shows he could overload with atomic power (Godzilla vs. Kong's final battle). The perfect opportunity arrives in the next sequel for even greater energy control! Think focused laser beams like in Shin Godzilla.
