Five Nights At Freddy's closes with a surprising turn for Josh Hutcherson's Mike. Inspired from the video games, Blumhouse's Five Nights At Freddy's revolves on Mike working a night job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where the animatronics – Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy – come to life. Mike promises to give his sister to the animatronics in exchange for the truth, desperate to find his brother Garrett's kidnapper, but later decides against it. Mike meanwhile learns that Vanessa, his new acquaintance, is the daughter of William Afton, the proprietor of Freddy's Fazbear who kills children.

Since the children passed away, Freddy's is closed; their ghosts follow William's footsteps in terms of manipulation, terrible, and killing everyone who crosses boundaries.
Though the Movie left unresolved problems and convoluted story gaps, Five Nights at Freddy's brought back the memories for video game aficionados. Though it's important to note Five Nights at Freddy's doesn't really disclose Mike's last name, the film version does not introduce William's son Michael.
William Afton keeps Freddy Fazbear's Pizza operational rather than closing it and auctioning the land even though it is abandoned. This decision serves one purpose. William wouldn't let Closing Freddy Fazbear's Pizza find the children's corpses since it would link him to their deaths. William found control by leaving the children in animatronic form, and leaving Freddy's abandoned ensured few people would come searching for any proof. William stabs Vanessa when she at last stands up to her dad. When Mike and Abby get her out of Freddy's, she is still aware; Five Nights at Freddy's ends show Vanessa going into a coma. Considering she doesn't die from her stab wound, Vanessa will likely wake up from her coma. She might take some time to heal, but if Five Nights at Freddy's intended to kill her off, it would have. Vanessa is vital to the struggle against William and any future movie depends on her historical awareness.
Throughout Five Nights at Freddy's, Aunt Jane is a threat. She is adamant about taking custody of Abby and even hires a group to ransack Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza to get Mike fired. She all but vanished, though, following personal attack by Freddy Fazbear. When Abby is taken from her home, Jane is seen on the floor of the living room, but there’s no close-up or confirmation regarding what actually happened to her.
Like he did with Max and her brother, Freddy most certainly killed her. However, the fact that Mike and Abby don’t mention her at the end of the film suggests she probably survived. It would have been interesting to see how she perceived the events and whether it terrified her enough to drop the custody case against Mike, but if she isn’t dead, then it means she could be gearing up to continue the custody battle when she’s feeling less rattled. Either way, her survival, like Vanessa’s, is likely.

The ending of Five Nights at Freddy's teases the return of William Afton as Springtrap in Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Because Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza remains intact, it stands to reason that William could return regardless of whether he lives or dies. If he lives, he'll undoubtedly try to kill more children. If his ghost possesses the spring-lock suit, he could come after Abby and Garrett as revenge for the pair taking him down.
Mike and Abby’s involvement in the Five Nights at Freddy's sequel remains nebulous; however, they could be drawn back to it if Abby decides to check in on her animatronic friends. Additionally, the question remains where Garrett's ghost went if Afton killed him like the others. All of these storylines could be explored further in Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Three months after Five Nights at Freddy's release, Josh Hutcherson confirmed that the sequel was officially happening with Emma Tammi at the helm again. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tammi discussed the movie's ending and future films in the franchise. She refrained from denying the speculation about Garrett's ghost, saying:
I feel like that could also be a nice thing for the fan base to mull over. I’d love to not shut down anyone’s theories.
She mentioned that they would need to wrap up loose ends like Aunt Mary possibly dying in the sequel. Tammi also confirmed that everyone is on board to make Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Read her statement below:
