Cosmere RPG: Will it Change D&D Forever? (Spoiler Alert: It Might)

Will the Cosmere RPG Change How We Play D&D?

Prepare yourself for a whole new Tabletop RPG! This isn't your typical D&D Campaign; this one is all about Brandon Sanderson's amazing Cosmere Universe, inspired by those fantasy books he's been writing - those are really good if you haven't seen them - but even better? It's going to revolutionize the way we play.

What is the Cosmere RPG About?

Well, it's all about playing around in the magical world that Sanderson built, which is pretty epic, and the cool part is that you are actually gonna have to choose - the first one is based on "The Stormlight Archive," with another, "Mistborn," coming later!

How is the Cosmere RPG Different From D&D?

  • Think about all those standard D&D Rolls with your trusty 20-sided dice! The Cosmere RPG isn't just a D&D copycat! It has this new addition - the Plot Die. You can just forget those normal rules - this is new.
  • If you like playing D&D, then the Cosmere RPG is gonna make everything more exciting! You'll need a D6 along with your standard D20 for this.
  • A 'Plot Die' doesn't really give you an extra die to modify the D20 - it's actually pretty cool! Sometimes you don't roll anything extra - but it could also make things better (like getting an advantage) - but, with a slight catch! Sometimes it could throw something unexpected at the players.

What Does a "Plot Die" Do?

This D6 can roll "Opportunities" and "Complications." That means even though you could get a good roll, the plot might change or throw you a curveball, to keep things interesting. It could change the way everyone plays D&D forever, especially those D&D 5e players who are still following the rules

Could it change D&D forever?

There are some neat things about the Plot Die! It doesn’t affect the main roll’s results, but those little twists in those D&D dice rolling outcomes - especially if it’s a D&D Roll on a super important quest, make things a whole lot more awesome.

We gotta see if the Cosmere RPG will be just as epic, since we don't get it until 2025, but with those new twists to D&D rules, maybe everyone will see that Sanderson is one of the best D&D game designers out there, as well!
