Selina Meyer's (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) quest for more power takes her all the way and showcases a deeply critical examination of how politics really work in a somewhat surprising and absolutely truthful, insightful manner, focusing on the political landscape with dark humor.

This entire series ends, not at the election; but at her funeral— emphasizing that final judgement from which everyone cannot escape; showing how easily self-destructive people in leadership roles truly could become! The bitter and darkly funny tone fits with Iannucci’s view of today’s politics and brings closure that is unexpected; both dark yet realistic and memorable– this is exactly how a political satire could realistically be completed. That’s effective use of dark humor!

Walter White’s cancer diagnosis is Breaking Bad’s hook, suggesting from the very start just how dangerous cancer truly is and also this terrible and difficult thing to confront, both physically and psychologically!  That inevitable death could feel predictable. However, the finale is amazingly surprising in many different places; bringing this dark, yet emotionally cathartic experience and it manages to somehow also bring an unexpected feeling of joy to a conclusion that was inevitably always going to occur and for everyone to accept. Walt secures his family's future, eliminates foes—and even dies alongside his favorite car!

That infamous car scene is a high point, but that quieter conversation with Skyler (Anna Gunn), showcases a truly profound, deeply disturbing reflection on Walt himself. This wasn't simply a good guy falling; he really was always that darker character which now got his comeuppance in satisfying manner, bringing an ultimate resolution; emphasizing how significant Walt’s own journey truly became.  A profound exploration of his own darkness.

The darker events that happen never overshadow those moments; yet add an undeniable depth to this experience that leaves audiences both deeply affected and deeply remembering their experiences watching this last set of events.   A genuinely beautiful moment of catharsis! It’s strangely, hilariously sad.

And surprisingly, Larry gets a (sort of) happy ending– he deserves nothing– and doesn't shy away from its highly controversial aspects! The series finale involves that insane courtroom sequence – just absurd levels of anger toward random witnesses – David’s  audacious approach totally nailed those viewers! This kind of brilliance could only exist if this person deeply understood that audience!

The family’s collapse into their previous behaviors remains powerful, bringing this really effective tragic closure and perfectly showcasing the family’s inherent traits that really impacted everything that happened; even making that final outcome feel believable; leaving behind immense trauma yet somehow bringing this extremely necessary closure for an audience desperate to discover and explore its profound consequences!
