You got to be careful - M. Night Shyamalan's "Trap" could pull some sneaky tricks on you - that’s what this filmmaker is known for! In this Trap Movie you've got Hartnett as Cooper - he’s taken his daughter Riley to a huge Lady Raven concert - it's one of those shows that get millions of fans out! That’s where the problems start because there’s a big problem - the whole place is being surrounded by cops looking for “The Butcher” who's a serial killer! Cooper now has to think really fast on how to get away, and that's where the whole thriller really starts!
The big thing about "Trap" is how you get pulled into the headspace of the killer. The trap movie plot relies a lot on this "cat and mouse" action, with a lot of tricks to throw you off. The story starts to feel like those “How To Catch a Killer” Movies we've all seen but the twist is how you're going to like a character who is a murderer. This is kind of what you can expect when M. Night Shyamalan directs!
The best part is that, as much as we get the killer's perspective, the movie really changes what we’ve been expecting. It’s actually really jarring. It kinda feels like it was originally supposed to be a lot more about that Thriller action - to really put us on the edge of our seats!
Yeah, M. Night Shyamalan plays some cool tricks, with a lot of mind-bending twists, especially toward the end of the film. It feels like we’re going back and forth, a bit of a rollercoaster. We are given little clues and twists to get a sense of what's going through the killer's head, so in the end, the film doesn’t just satisfy those Thriller needs, but also makes you think about how people think.
You don't have to be a fan of those deep-meaning films - Trap is a pretty straightforward, edge-of-your-seat experience. So if you’re into Josh Hartnett - you can't go wrong with M. Night Shyamalan's latest project, and you can catch it at the cinema right now!
