Starfield 'Shattered Space' DLC: Is It Worth It? Player Reviews & Criticism

So, Starfield dropped a DLC for its game! It’s "Shattered Space!" A bunch of players are not super happy!

Players all across the internet have said that Shattered Space hasn't been hitting the right notes! When Starfield first came out it seemed super epic but after about a year or so since the initial release, it was looking a little tired, and something was needed! You might know, this Bethesda game. Well it launched the DLC, hoping to bring new energy to its awesome world. This expansion was set to explore the crazy, mysterious faction, House Va'ruun. These guys seemed pretty wild, as if they were hiding in the dark places of the "Starfield universe! The idea was to add new locations, give players awesome weapons, gear, new storylines, and lots of fun extras for those looking for a challenge.

Mostly Negative Ratings For Shattered Space

Steam has really shown some pretty awful reviews, going down the ranks so much in a very short time! The reviews were pretty low. Some players, who enjoyed the Bethesda games, thought the DLC "Shattered Space was great. Others were left completely disappointed.

A big question: Does "Shattered Space" really deserve the negativity? Maybe some fans are looking for a big, incredible story. Maybe some feel like they deserve so much more, but, one thing is true: some of those complaints might be pretty justifiable, others, not as much.

Criticism For Shattered Space

If you think these gamers are having a debate! You better get ahold of Reddit. One of the comments was a post about why the DLC wasn't well-received, it looked to bring back the most compelling moments from this franchise, from those players! What's the common complaint? Well the general view was that Shattered Space had issues. House Va'ruun seems to be a very popular figure, but once fans played the game, a few points stood out.

  • The expansion seemed lackluster!
  • There's a story, and in it an awesome place known as Dazra had been totally blown apart and the place itself was nowhere near as intriguing, as a player would imagine from those early parts of the game.

There was a whole list of issues! Some fans said that while the locations, weapons, and ships may have looked super interesting and different. They did not really feel like new additions. Some of the weapons were re-skinned, meaning the look of them was very similar! It really wasn't like something that was made from scratch. The characters didn't look different. Even more shocking, some parts were just repurposed.

More Problems With Shattered Space

So these big problems in the world of "Shattered Space" came out. Even more. The players called out other Bethesda titles as the world felt kind of plain.

  • Some players had the chance to take a deep dive into what makes "Shattered Space" so compelling. What stood out is the way that "Morrowind", was a masterpiece of the gaming genre.
  • These were three powerful and unique "houses." There was a lot of great history behind each house. This really is how they were forged with an amazing set of culture. Fans truly believed the "houses" in "Shattered Space" felt really similar. These differences didn't come out. It may have had an impact, if things were more interesting to explore.

Fans did admit, the DLC gave some interesting stories. These side stories though? Just didn't feel impactful, leaving gamers wishing for more compelling and heart-wrenching events! This gave viewers a chance to play, but the choice was nothing more than the illusion of making a decision.

There was more about how the game really wasn't as entertaining! It was not the game that everyone had hoped it would be.

Shattered Space Issues- The Critics

It looks like a great amount of effort was put into it, and for many, those who hadn't had a chance to try the game! Well, a bunch of gamers found this game too short for a big investment and a price that really just didn't justify its length!

  • A good number of the issues, were about its lack of quality and some extra details. Even those that did love the new expansion!
  • It had more elements of what players were hoping to see in those older Bethesda games, like Oblivion.
  • What also stuck out is, when these initial previews for the expansion were released, that this might not live up to the expectation! They had such a special tone that's incredibly spooky. But when players got into it. You saw that sense of spookiness was only available for the initial experience.

That leaves fans a little more let down. With that said! To think that the new DLC would help "Starfield" feel fresh, is a little off the mark! To think that a DLC is going to bring this much depth into a large-scale RPG is just not reasonable.

Even though the criticisms do show why this may have happened. What made this so strange is that it's a totally handcrafted world.

  • The creators had every right to create a special story. But gamers are looking for more.

To create the kind of games that people adore, these companies must learn. The best companies out there, know to give their fans what they want.

  • So if you're a gamer. Be happy, as it appears that more DLC for Starfield will be coming down the line.
  • You better believe that Bethesda is on the quest to take their game and bring a fresh look into it!

The fact that "Shattered Space" has those handcrafted environments means that they were willing to listen to player feedback! This will mean changes and it may show that their next DLC is bound to be better!

There is hope out there for Bethesda and these fans are all looking forward to what could come! Even if the "Shattered Space", had some missteps, one thing is sure.

  • Gamers were hoping it would be as great as those past games.
  • There was a really, really important aspect to keep in mind when playing! To make it something that no one expected.

Maybe "Starfield" doesn't get to have the chance to bring it all together yet! And we just need to have patience as we watch this massive game evolve. It is a journey in this universe and what it means to gamers! If you've tried "Shattered Space" and aren't a fan, maybe this next one is what will make the Starfield universe much more fun!

There will be something exciting around every corner. The Gaming universe keeps delivering exciting moments for us to experience!
