The Fist of Khonshu: Legacy Not a Title
Stories suggested the violent man was merely deranged when Marc Spector originally presented Moon Knight, but gradually Marvel revealed Khonshu was a true deity, from the Othervoid dimension. Famously having dissociative identity disorder, Spector became the Left Fist of Khonshu, committed to defending innocent life to atone for those he killed as a mercenary. Major Moon Knight mythology was revealed in Jason Aaron's run of Avengers, detailing how in 1,000,000 BC Khonshu was angered that the old Stone Age Avengers did not try to join Khonshu into their league, so the deity created his first Fist.
Introduced in Avengers (2020) #35, the first ever Fist of Khonshu from 1,000,000 BC was Hunter's Moon entered Moon Knight history with the most recent run of Moon Knight revealing that Doctor Yehya Badr was Khonshu's "Right Fist," and that Badr and Spector were simply the latest in a millenia-long series of Khonshu avatars. Fascinatingly, both Spector and Badr started to be momentarily possessed by former Fists in moments of extreme need; past avatars gave the present Fists strength and savagery. Phases of the Moon Knight's debut issue will center a "crusader Moon Knight," most likely from the 11th or 12th century, who has survived his own "holy war," only to discover himself in Ancient Egypt. There, this white crusader will have to face the great power of En Sabah Nur, the ancient mutant sometimes known as Apocalypse.
Shroud's Metamorphosis into "Moon Knight" At Last Revealed
The untimely and sad death of Marc Spector rocked Tigra to her very core and left a large hole absent in the Midnight Mission, the group Moon Knight established to guard his area. Still, suddenly a new Moon Knight emerged in Vengeance of the Moon Knight. Clearly not Marc, and exceedingly vicious, this Moon Knight figure was identified as the wicked Shroud. Phases of the Moon Knight will at last expose the reality of Shroud's dishonesty and show how he started his sinister quest as a distorted portrayal of Moon Knight.
Until now, the actual extent of the legacy of the Moon Knight has remained a mystery buried in antiquity! Moon Knight's history is dark and complicated, gradually exposed over the previous few decades as a better knowledge of Khonshu and his sinister motives is unearthed. Finally exploring the past Fist's of Khonshu, this new limited series may even start Marc Spector on a road forward to be reborn and once more fight for the innocent.
