Neva: Stunning Indie Game Review - 2024's Must-Play?

Neva: The Stunning Indie Game You Absolutely HAVE to Play!

Neva: A Breathtaking Success That's Already Winning Big!

Remember Gris? That gorgeous Indie Game from Nomada Studio? Well, get ready to be blown away again, folks, because they're back with Neva; a beautiful new title that builds on that earlier success.  It retains all the hand-animated goodness and beautiful 2D platforming of Gris, and adds entirely new elements which improve upon this foundation. Neva's already earned a top spot amongst the highest-rated indie games of 2024!   Screen Rant's own review calls it "no less elegant or engrossing" than Gris; suggesting the amazing potential, despite building upon a title which has already made its name.

This isn't your average Indie game, it’s much more.  The wordless storyline unfolds through its incredible visuals and that gorgeous forest backdrop; using an approach which prioritizes showing rather than explicitly telling those elements important to conveying that important message, delivering an emotional experience that's intensely personal to viewers.   It’s easily "one of the best-looking indies of the year". And after you get done playing through the main storyline and are still not done– it remains equally replayable and will only become a game worth replaying; demonstrating that the story never gets old; the experience remains intense!

Neva is killing it with the reviews! Think 100 from Eurogamer DE (via Metacritic) and a 90 from IGN Italia.   It’s an amazing 86 overall. And Screen Rant’s own 9/10 review sings its praises – calling the visuals “spectacular” and noting just how good the use of color is at driving that specific emotional storyline. The only criticism: the simpler gameplay is toned down compared to Gris.

A Must-Play for Gris Fans (and Everyone Else!)

Gris used environments to showcase that important theme: grief.  Neva takes it to another level. Its themes center around those complicated emotions surrounding loss and darkness, introducing that very memorable group of inky masked creatures, each an element within the surrounding world and that serves to impact our understanding surrounding what unfolds in our central story's character. The game keeps those clever puzzles from Gris and adds some unique combat, all a similar intensity that will easily capture fans.

That art style? Even better! Neva's got this insanely magical and whimsical art; beautifully crafted details– showing the quality in handmade visuals with astonishing colors! What Nomada Studio created after their major initial success? Even better, showing why Neva stands head and shoulders amongst similar indie titles; making this a phenomenal indie title and an impressive achievement and that truly emphasizes a title deserving of praise!

Conclusion: Neva – A Masterpiece You Won't Want to Miss

Neva is amazing. The game successfully combines astonishing art, compelling storytelling, and smooth, easy-to-learn gameplay mechanics, but these things aren't nearly enough to express why this game should be recognized by those casual viewers; these kinds of gameplay choices help to retain viewers despite showcasing relatively little exposition for some important narrative plot points, the environmental cues alone generate far more profound emotional impacts than those initially conveyed.

This might easily become your next favorite game– a breathtaking success story.  Play this; now. Don’t miss this year’s hidden indie gem.
