One can greatly benefit from Spirit Ash summoning in Elden Ring in confronting challenges. Their efficacy has always been rather uneven, though; the Mimic Tear is a potent but usually overpowering choice. Fortunately, a recent update changed the summons process and gives the rest of the Spirit Ash pool much-needed relief.
Since the release of Elden Ring, the most sought-after summon in the game has been the Mimic Tear, a clone of the Tarnished. Although it got a nerf early on, it still has unmatched force and simplicity of use, thus it is a major player in almost every fight. This has sometimes left other Spirit Ashes neglected, which reduces the variety of summon options.
Particularly in the new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, Elden Ring's 1.13 patch presents a noteworthy departure from how summons functions. The update presents Revered Spirit Ash Blessing, a new progression mechanism scaling the power of summoned spirits in The Land of Shadow. Except for the Mimic Tear, the Blessing greatly increases the attack power and damage negation of all summons options, so possibly bridging the gap between them.
The update also helps summons outside Shadow of the Erdtree. After the +8 upgrade, their attack power and damage negation get better; many get further personal tweaks. For early-game encounters, the Spirit Jellyfish Ashes are particularly valuable now since they have improved HP, physical attack power, and poison buildup.
For those who enjoy summoning, the additions are much welcomed. The update encourages players to try several summons, so giving a justification to go back and investigate the several possibilities. Making other summons more competitive will allow Elden Ring players to at last embrace the range of options the game presents.
It's interesting that the update provides specific changes to different summons instead of merely using a universal buff. This shows FromSoftware's commitment to precisely balancing the game and guaranteeing every summon has special place. The meticulous nature of the game supports its dedication to give players significant decisions and fulfilling experiences.
