Elden Ring players should look out for these rare Shadow of the Erdtree enemies.
A rare adversary that only occurs in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree is critical to complete the DLC with ease. The majority of the challenges players will face in the Land of Shadow are made up of new opponent kinds introduced in Elden Ring Dlc. For the most part, these adversaries behave similarly to those in the main game. However, there are a few exceptions, such as the optional bosses in the Elden Ring DLC, who have distinct mechanics.
Not only do bosses behave strangely, but so do a few regular opponents. They can be difficult to locate and even more difficult to vanquish (although not for the reasons Elden Ring gamers may think). Nonetheless, their extremely rare rewards are so effective against the Dlc's bosses that they are worth seeking out wherever they appear.
Elden Ring DLC players should look for Shadow Undead Carrying Pots.
In Elden Ring's DLC, players should keep a look out for specific forms of Shadow Undead with pots on their heads, which almost always drop rare upgrade materials known as Scadutree Fragments. These foes can be found practically anywhere on the world, including areas where conventional Shadow Undead are not present. If they remain with the main quest, the first one will be found on a covered bridge in the Belurat legacy dungeon.
However, players must act quickly in order to catch this particular kind. They are more wary than their fellow Shadow Undead, who usually attack the player on sight or pray inadvertently until the player interrupts them. As soon as they see the Tarnished, they will rush to the nearest corner, crouch, and surround themselves with a puff of smoke. They will dissolve in a cloud of mist seconds later and will not return until the player reloads the location. The most convenient approach to reload a region and respawn a Shadow Undead is to sit at the nearest Site of Grace. However, this will respawn all non-boss opponents in the region. Fortunately, like most Shadow Undead, the pot-carrying type is relatively easy to fight. Of course, it all depends on the player's build and equipment, but a couple rapid swings should easily knock them down. They won't fight back, preferring to run and hide, thus quickness and stealth are key here. Wait until other nearby foes are distracted before crouching, sneaking up behind the pot-carrying enemies, and striking quickly to grab their spoils.
How Do Scadutree Fragments Work in Elden Rings DLC?
Scadutree Fragments are one of two important new upgrade materials added in Elden Ring's DLC, alongside Revered Spirit Ashes. They increase a few of the player characters' and summons' stats: Scadutree Fragments improve the Tarnished's damage and protection, while Revered Spirit Ashes do the same for their summoned spirits. They are dispersed around the Elden Ring DLC map: Scadutree Fragments are sometimes found in abandoned churches or dropped by pot-carrying Shadow Undead, whereas Revered Spirit Ashes are typically found near altars in the open world.
Once the player has acquired a few Scadutree Fragments, they must activate their blessings by sitting at a Site of Grace. These bonuses accumulate; the more Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes the player collects, the more powerful they and their summons become. The first level can be activated with just one of each element, but subsequent levels require more: two Scadutree Fragments for the second upgrade, three for the third, and so on. When the player has collected enough Scadutree Fragments to activate the next level of buffs, a small, highlighted dot will appear next to the Shadow Blessings option on the Site of Grace menu. Unlike boosts conferred by items such as Wondrous Physics, these are semi-permanent. They will not vanish when the Tarnished sleeps in a Site of Grace or dies. The one limitation is that Scadutree and Revered Spirit Ash Blessings only operate in the DLC; if the player quickly returns to the basic game, all of their perks are lost. Nonetheless, they are extremely useful in the DLC, which includes numerous difficult bosses that will put even the most experienced player to the test.
