It's wild to think that Daniel Radcliffe basically grew up playing Harry Potter. In the later films, he's definitely older than Harry, but for most of the series, his age was pretty close to the character. Let's take a look at his age in each movie.
When filming started for the first Harry Potter movie, Daniel Radcliffe was 11 years old. Harry Potter's character was also 11 in the first book and film. So, right off the bat, they were the same age!
By the time the second Harry Potter movie rolled around, Daniel Radcliffe was 12 years old. In the story, Harry was still 12. This meant that once again, Daniel Radcliffe and Harry were the same age.
Daniel Radcliffe was 13 years old when filming began for the third Harry Potter movie. Harry was also 13 in the film. So, yet again, Daniel Radcliffe and his character were the same age.
For the fourth Harry Potter movie, Daniel Radcliffe was 14 years old. Harry, in the story, was also 14. Another year, another age match for Daniel Radcliffe and his character!
Things start to get a little different with the fifth Harry Potter movie. Daniel Radcliffe was 16 years old when filming began, while Harry was still 15. This marked the first time Daniel Radcliffe was older than his character.
For the sixth Harry Potter movie, Daniel Radcliffe was 17 years old, while Harry was 16 in the story. The age gap between Daniel Radcliffe and Harry was widening at this point, but it still wasn't a huge difference.
By the time filming began for the seventh Harry Potter movie, Daniel Radcliffe was 18 years old, and he was 17 by the end of the filming. Harry was 17 for the majority of the movie and turned 18 at the end. Daniel Radcliffe was now very close in age to Harry, but the age gap was the biggest it had been during the entire film series.
