Cheetara's new costume makes a significant comment about an unexplored period of ThunderCats Lore.
Soon spinning off into her own title, Cheetara of the Thundercats will have a fresh style reminiscent of the character's past across the franchise. Along with record-breaking sales, Dynamite Entertainment debuted a fresh Thundercats title to critical praise earlier this year. With a Cheetara solo book, dynamite is now growing the brand, and the creative team has revealed the idea for the new style of the character.
Talking with Liam McGuire of Looper, Thundercats: Cheetara author Soo Lee clarified the strategy she and artist Domenico Carbone are using for the book. Lee admitted that Cheetara is still something of an open book even though she shows up in every iteration of the franchise. Regarding Cheetara's latest outfit, Lee credited Carbone saying:
"Domenico Carbone the artist took care of it; I find it really logical. It captures, in my opinion, the life Cheetara and the rest of the ThunderCats led before the start of the show. It also reveals, in my opinion, Thundera's culture! Dynamite also gave Looper carbone character concepts. These capture Cheetara's evolving new wardrobe.
The Thundercats Still Draw New Fans Nearly 40 Years Later
Though they emerged in the 1980s and were products of their day, the Thundercats have shown longevity. The original animation stopped production in 1989, hence there have been multiple reboots, each bringing unique character to the property. Selling well over 150,000 copies and receiving praise from both critics and long-time franchise fans, Dynamite Entertainment's new Thundercats book is among the most successful revival efforts to date. While looking forward the future, Dynamite's new Thundercats book celebrates its legendary heritage.
Giving Cheetara her own book, apart from Lion-O, Panthro and the rest provides Lee and Carbone a great chance to grow from the ground up. Cheetara marks a momentous event for the series since it is the first spin-off ever created. Leading the Thundercats into its new age, Cheetara is the perfect character. Cheetara is mostly a "blank slate," as Lee pointed out, with lots of space for character growth. Giving Cheetara her own book, apart from Lion-O, Panthro and the rest provides Lee and Carbone a great chance to grow from the bottom up. The Thundercats book by Dynamite has already done a fantastic job highlighting Cheetara and her skills; this new project lets her flourish even more.
The New Era of Cheetara Starts with Her Past.
Lee and Carbone will be looking back to Cheetara simultaneously as they push her through her paces and support her personal development. Lee alluded to Cheetara's life before the team arrived on Third Earth guiding Carbone's approach. If true, this marks still another significant event for the series since no version of the property has properly examined the life of the Thundercats prior to their departure from Thundera. The new Thundercats title for Dynamite has moved some strong forward moves, and giving Cheetara her own title is the largest yet.
One of the most well-liked characters in the Thundercats series has always been Cheetara, and her solo show evidence of her ongoing appeal. Cheetara's past and the fresh costume design will thrill admirers and expose her to a new generation of readers. Cheetara is a character deserving of more research given her special talents, relentless loyalty, and intriguing demeanor. Her Solo Series offers a fresh viewpoint on the Thundercats property and an interesting new chapter in Cheetara's narrative, therefore augmenting the universe of the franchise.
