The Spider- Armor Cosplay Reminds Fans This Suit DOES Exist in the MCU (Sort of).
Not only is this cosplay the finest rendition of the Spider- Armor ever created, but the text quote reminds fans that this suit genuinely exists in a corner of the MCU cosmos - precisely in its animation. Spider-Man: The Animated Series resides in the MCU multiverse since X-Men '97 establishes every '90s animated series as canon. And, as the quotation in this Instagram post just reminded followers, that includes the Steel Spider.
One of the Spider-Man variants Madame Web gathered during the last plot arc in Spider-Man: The Animated Series was the Steel Spider. Steel Spider from Spider-Man: The Animated Series is quite likely to receive the live-action treatment as the MCU has been known to leap between animation and live-action with the same versions of established characters. And should he do, this Cosplay should serve as the live-action Steel Spider's model.
Steel Spider-Man Cosplay Addresses the Lasting Legacy of the Suit
To battle the startlingly strong squad of supervillains known as the New Enforcers—who lacked notoriety—Spider-Man created the Steel Spider Armor in the comics. Although the costume suited Spidey's first onslaught against the New Enforcers, it was swiftly destroyed and only his original suit allowed Spider-Man to beat them. Though the appearance of this outfit is absolutely iconic, this cosplay is helping to preserve the heritage that Marvel Comics canon has created. It had only a brief run.
The costume was really popular, hence seeing it recreated in a cosplay gives the suit fresh life. It appeared briefly since it was only seen for one issue. The outfit itself was a magnificent example of creativity.
The Marvel Legacy of Spider-Man
Throughout his tenure with Marvel Comics, Spider-Man has had several costume modifications, from the standard red and blue to the renowned black symbiote Spider-Man outfit, although one soars above the rest in terms of lasting influence while being embarrassingly ephemeral: the Spider-Armor. This costume, also known as the ‘Steel Spider’ or MK1 Armor, only lasted one issue but has persevered in the hearts of fans, including one cosplayer who pushed this fan-favorite suit to a new level.
In an Instagram post by Josh Khan (handle: @maximum.khanage), a series of photographs were uploaded depicting the cosplayer wearing the Steel Spider Armor. The intensity of the cosplayer wearing it, making it seem as though Peter Parker is actually within the suit, adds to how jaw-dropping this cosplay truly is. Everything from the complex decorations and steel-plated armor to the intensity of the cosplayer wearing it adds to how completely jaw-dropping this cosplay actually is.
The Costume
As though constructing and then putting on a movie-quality Spider-Armor wasn't sufficient evidence, the image caption demonstrates how much of a fan this cosplayer is of the Spider-Armor. The caption for that iteration of Spider-Man on the 1990s animated series quotes a Steel Spider remark. Now, by actually bringing the Steel Spider to life in a truly incredible manner, this cosplayer is adding to the mythology of this costume.
Spider-Man officially becomes "the most dangerous superhuman in the world" after he's infected by the Green Goblin's essence, becoming Spider-Goblin! A powerful transformation that enhances Spider-Man's abilities, the costume is also amazing.
It's a Stretch, But Fans Should Be Excited For a Possible Live-Action Steel Spider.
While the prospect of pulling an animated Steel Spider from Spider-Man: The Animated Series and throwing him into the live-action landscape of the MCU is a bit of a stretch (though Spider-Man: No Way Home proves something like that isn’t impossible), fans shouldn’t worry about whether they’ll see the Spider-Armor brought to life. The reason being that it already has, as Spider-Man’s Spider-Armor costume has never looked better than this cosplay.
The fact that this cosplay is so well-done shows the amount of work that goes into these cosplays. The cosplay artist deserves to be recognized for such great work. The costume itself looks amazing.
