Camera Angles, Immersion, and The Gameplay

The Silent Hill 2 Remake changes the camera angles from its fixed cameras, (like many survival horror remakes in the last few years),to a third-person perspective. This is mostly for immersion.

  • The fixed cameras in the original game, were done due to technical limitations from the Playstation 2.
  • The updated angles make it feel more personal and real and lets people see almost through James’ eyes!
  • Fans love this approach!

Playing through these scenes made things more cinematic. The fixed angles made the controls somewhat clunky, and that makes a lot of difference. Using these older camera systems can actually really remove the immersion for those players.
