Roseanne Barr a comedian and actress is in the spotlight again . This comes following a new song she made in partnership with rapper Tom MacDonald. It is notable for being in support of former President Donald Trump which further added to her image.
Barr debuted a hip hop version of herself by wearing a new set of blonde box braids, sunglasses, gold chains, and leopard print outfits in a new music video . This transformation has a mixed review of reactions with many finding it notable. However other may take issue with what she portrays with this style of art.
Barr collaborated with rapper Tom MacDonald in a song and video entitled " Daddy's Home " where she celebrated the political climate. This showed an expansion in areas that may have been more specific and limited before into the world of music using a new form of delivery. As the duo used music to create conversation.
The song emphasizes her support for Trump while taunting his opposers. She then references the word racist claiming they have tried to use it to cancel her and states they are attempting to take her rights away. As the lyrics continue there is mention of how "Granny is going bad". Barr attempts to create beef with Eminem as well in a verse of the song by saying "Screw Eminem, I'm Roseanne." and includes some gestures such as a bottom shake and a middle finger for emphasis.
Barr's career has had many incidents some which have gained controversy as early as the 1990's when she had a very unpopular rendition of The National Anthem at a baseball game . Her TV show "Roseanne" had its reboot cancelled after Barr’s racist tweet in 2018 about former President Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. The ABC network later renewed a spinoff which had her character removed.
Barr initially tried to make amends by making a statement to Jarrett as well as the nation for her comments by referring to them as a joke. her show “Roseanne” got cancelled after it was claimed she referred to Jarrett by writing “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby."
Her new rap song was said to be an effort of support toward President elect Donald Trump which aligns with her conservative image and strong political beliefs. With different statements and interactions over the last few years she has also made headlines with odd statements while remaining at her point of views.
Barr was under fire recently for denying the Holocaust and the many deaths that resulted from the genocide of the Jewish population. Although she claims to be "100% Jewish" her view on some events have landed her into hot water on more than one occasion, making the public eye a space she is no stranger to navigating.
There is a very mixed review on Barr’s appearance in a rap format which many found surprising or out of the norm for her brand. Many of her long time supporters shared positive comments and responses while also generating many questions in both viewership. There have also been numerous negative responses that were critical of her new direction.
Some have shown that they did respect her past comedic contributions. However now their view of her had greatly changed noting that it was "heartbreaking" to see what she is doing today in relation to how her story telling once impacted many. Those comments are coming from fans of her acting over the years who wish things remained the same.
