PS5 Pro Release Date Delay: Why It Makes Sense

Delay for PS5 Pro Release

Many speculations surround the PlayStation 5 Pro, with hopes of its 2024 arrival. Recent sources, however, point to a possible delay in the release date. Reputable source of Sony hardware leaks, Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson first made hints about the console's arrival. On its situation in recent months, he and other leakers have remained quiet though. Henderson questioned the original schedule when discussing X and speculated that the Ps5 Pro might not be releasing in 2024.

Inadequate Exclusive Titles

Examining the PS4 Pro's release in 2016, one finds a sizable slate of exclusive PlayStation games driving sales. Gamers had strong incentives to upgrade from titles including Marvel's Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and God of War. The debut of PlayStation VR at the same time as the PS4 Pro helped to inspire usage even more. But the scene of 2024 lacks such a strong lineup of exclusives that might boost Ps5 Pro sales. Though games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Helldivers 2, and Rise of the Ronin have been published, Astro Bot, which launches in September 2024, is the only exclusive game that might profit from the PS5 Pro's hardware. Its influence on sales, however, might not be as notable as it was upon the PS4 Pro's introduction.

Possibilities for a 2025 Release

Lack of a strong exclusive lineup in 2024 could cause Sony to postpone the PS5 Pro's introduction. Among the several highly visible, graphically demanding games in 2025 are GTA 6, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, and the exclusive Death Stranding 2. These games might be a better friend for the PS5 Pro's introduction and maybe boost its appeal. Though surprises could surface at Gamescom, which is set to take place in a month, release windows for these titles are still rather nebulous.

PS5: Synopsis

Fifth flagship console from Sony Computer Entertainment, the Playstation 5 belongs to the ninth generation of consoles. Through its digital store, the console provides access to earlier generations and complete backward compatibility with PlayStation 4 games. Apart from 1440p at 120 frames per second for gameplay, the PS5 can generate images at 4K resolution. It notably uses 3D audio, which lets headphones be connected to create a pseudo spatially accurate audio experience.
