Currently, there are 50 confirmed Gold Beetle locations! We've listed them below along with directions and other helpful tips!

Grand Trad and Surroundings

  • Beetle 1: Mountain Forest Camp; check trees while camping with Strohl and Grius.
  • Beetle 2: Sunshade Row; between barrels near the armor shop.
  • Beetle 3: Royal Army Recruitment Centre; in a corner inside the building itself.
  • Beetle 4: Comfort Concoctions; interact with the glowing sack!
  • Beetle 5: Traveler's Graveyard (Tradia Desert); in a bush by a rock formation.
  • Beetle 6: Belega Corridor Dungeon (Sunlumeo Street); during “A Bullish Embargo” side quest. That dungeon location needs completion for acquisition!
  • Beetle 17: Regalith Grand Cathedral (Grand Trad); after talking to the beetle trader in Arenafront Wharf; near a stall in the market square itself.
  • Beetle 30: Comfort Concoctions (Grand Trad); behind the counter after visiting Virga Island in the main story. Its acquisition involves another key storyline objective's completion. 

Martira and Surroundings

  • Beetle 7: Visca Alba Tavern; interact with the fireplace.
  • Beetle 8: Visca Alba Tavern; this is completely random; it involves the pitcher inside the guest bedroom; potentially requiring many attempts!
  • Beetle 18: Cattleracket Road (Martira); near haystacks after visiting the Arenafront Wharf beetle trader. That key encounter needs progression beforehand!
  • Beetle 19: MesmerEyes Apothecary; inside a shimmering sack, which needs purchase or looting from specific places beforehand.

Port Brilehaven and Surroundings

  • Beetle 12: Seabreeze Street; near crates on a balcony.
  • Beetle 13: Seabreeze Street; near other crates.
  • Beetle 14: Merchants' Bazaar; near crates at the recruitment center.
  • Beetle 15: Merchants' Bazaar; near other crates.
  • Beetle 16: Arenafront Wharf; between some crates.
  • Beetle 20: Seabreeze Street; given for the "Dental Distress" quest. That side quest must be complete beforehand.

Principality of Oceana

  • Beetle 21: Gracia Forest Dungeon; during the "Soldier's Solace" side quest (from Port Brilehaven).
  • Beetle 22 & 23: Tomb of Lament Dungeon; during the “Fatolich, Lamentable Dead” bounty. This one location contains two beetles; but it is completely contingent on progression.
  • Beetle 24: Forsaken Tower Dungeon; during "Superior Scrimshaw" side quest, needing the “Fiend of the Forsaken Tower” note.
  • Beetle 49: Manor of the Ascendant Dungeon; requires progression beyond the “Kokamordos, Terror of the Skies” bounty. The unlock for this specific area and subsequent boss fights needs significant completion of storyline content beforehand.

Virga Island (Home of the Dragon God)

  • Beetle 25-29: Various locations near the tavern, statue, Rooster Inn, Sandy Coast, and around crates. Those specific encounters all happen after gaining access to this area. The encounters here happen within the island.
  • Beetle 31: After finishing the Dragon Temple dungeon and speaking with the Clumsy Boy.

Malnova Archipelago

  • Beetle 32 & 33: Orbwise Path Dungeon; during the "Save the Mourning Snakes" quest from Virga Island.  This specific dungeon contains multiple Beetles which needs a key quest completion.
  • Beetle 34: Spire of Blind Faith Dungeon; for the "Peak Curiosity" quest (from Virga Island), and needs "Phantom Avian of the Spire" note. The area and the boss needs prior engagement. This one might also require extra combat beforehand.
  • Beetle 36: Land of the Ceremony Dungeon; from the "Trial of Malnova" quest (from Virga Island) after finishing the Dragon Temple dungeon. Progression beforehand is required!

Altabury Heights

  • Beetle 37: Lunlumo Approach; between two trees.
  • Beetle 38: Lunlumo Approach; by barrels.
  • Beetle 39: White Peaks Magic Shop; in the shimmering cauldron.
  • Beetle 40: Upper Blue Sky Bridge; beneath the deck, near tables.
  • Beetle 41: Opera House Square; at the bridge's end.
  • Beetle 42: Skyward Tavern; near barrels.
  • Beetle 47: Upper Blue Sky Bridge; as reward from the "Deliver Hot Spring Water" quest. That particular side quest needs full progression and completion to earn this beetle.

Principality of Montario

  • Beetle 43: Mount Vulkano Dungeon; unlocked via “Wayward Shepherd” side quest (Bond Rank 6 with Eupha).
  • Beetle 44: Everfrost Forest Dungeon; unlocked via “Icebeast Chimezahn” bounty. Progression beyond that is required before being able to engage here!
  • Beetle 45: Tower of Insolence Dungeon; requires “Proof of Power” side quest from Altabury; along with “Giant of the Tower of Insolence” note.
  • Beetle 48: Abandoned Path Dungeon; needs the “Ordemos” bounty. Its access becomes available far later in the storyline!

Tradia Region

  • Beetle 35: Scoundrel's Hold Dungeon; from “Psyocropos” bounty. Access only becomes available after that particular dungeon storyline!
  • Beetle 50: Disgraced Ruins Dungeon; requires the “Bandit Chief Cistus” bounty.   This becomes accessible late game!

Ancient Eldan Sanctum

  • Beetle 46: Plaza of Light; this requires playing during the main storyline after the 9/24 date event in the main game, a specific story-driven area; its existence contingent upon progress in the storyline!

What to Do with All Those Gold Beetles

Once you found at least one beetle, head to the Elderly Entemophile at Arenafront Wharf!  That unlocks the “All That Glitters” trophy; however its additional value comes from the sheer rewards associated. He gives various cool items at various thresholds:

  • 1 Beetle: Arcane Dragonblood (healing).
  • 12 Beetles: Venomward Charm.
  • 25 Beetles: Claw Breakers.
  • 38 Beetles: Flameseal Corselet.
  • 46 Beetles: Dragon’s Fall (powerful weapon).
