Metaphor: ReFantazio Follower Guide: Unlock Every Companion!

Metaphor: ReFantazio - How to Recruit Every Awesome Follower!

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a seriously cool RPG where building relationships matters! Your "Followers" aren't just party members; they're close companions, teachers, and shipmates. They share skills, professions, and secrets!  Some Followers automatically join your adventure as part of the main story; this means the very first Followers would become available to those progressing the story line as well! Some might join your adventure much later or only through those unexpected encounters with NPCs, requiring a good understanding of both the story and potential opportunities, this would be exceptionally important, especially those late-game situations!

This guide has the total breakdown;  covering how to recruit ALL fourteen Followers in the game. It's going to be crucial to plan which ones to collect, which depend completely on the moment in the storyline, these elements need careful thought. We cover when they become available, special requirements (Royal Virtue levels or quests) for gaining maximum impact! It's also important to remember which might be missed entirely because of this strict calendar system! It is quite possibly one of the trickiest aspects when playing through this.

Unlocking Your Automatic Followers!

Many Followers join naturally by progressing the story; this mostly revolves around finishing a main storyline mission or reaching a specific calendar date. Those following the main plot won't miss these early-game Followers, so there is little strategy required here.

  • More (the Seeker): He joins the main storyline at the beginning; introducing Archetypes!
  • Gallica: Will's aide. She joins on 6/6.
  • Strohl: An early party member. Also joins on 6/6.
  • Maria: She joins on 6/10.
  • Hulkenberg: She joins on 6/11. It's interesting how these storylines are tightly knit together with that required date system for recruiting and maintaining relationships.
  • Catherina: Technically a side quest from 6/12; but this becomes completely unavoidable; needing to advance to 6/13.  This is absolutely required!
  • Bardon: Another "side quest" that is non-optional in order to fully advance through this storyline; completing the Sinner’s Dungeon on 7/5 finishes this without any extra effort.  It becomes mandatory, needing to do this by 7/15 to avoid failure.
  • Heismay: The final "automatic" Follower; He joins on 7/4!

Finding Those Optional Followers

There's six others! These might easily get missed! Most start a side quest, or need raising your Royal Virtue levels.

  • Neuras: Starts his side quest on 6/23. Go to Komero to recruit.
  • Brigitta: Needs Wisdom Rank 2 and you'll have to do her side quest.
  • Alonzo: Needs Imagination Rank 2, completing a lengthy side quest. Travel time makes this one extra crucial! Make sure to avoid the potential automatic Game Over conditions imposed by date.
  • Junah: While initially a party member (8/19), complete her side quest to unlock full Follower status.
  • Eupha: (Also 8/19), her side quest involves beating Homo Pento.
  • Basilio: The final Follower joining at 9/11! Find him on the Gauntlet Runner to make him a follower; doing so sooner is always better! It’s essential to recognize which ones depend heavily upon the exact time, this makes completing several specific quests absolutely important.
