Grey’s Anatomy, a long standing popular television drama series is impacted with a halt in production because of large scale fires in Southern California. The recent news events of many different forms within the production is what will be a key focus here. The ongoing drama is not without it’s challenges.
The hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," experienced delays in production due to wildfires that occurred in the Los Angeles area causing an abundance of issues in the production process and beyond. These setbacks put much into question when the ability to keep all production personnel and cast safe was concerned.
The series along with many other productions had to pause all tapings due to severe weather patterns. This decision also came with the fact of the air quality impacting those at studios and on location. Due to the raging fires throughout California the Oscar nominations were pushed back by 2 days to accommodate those directly impacted. All major industry events were all heavily altered, showcasing the far-reaching disruption. The PGA and WGA awards dates were also pushed to later dates.
Various other award events had either been delayed cancelled or made digital responses. Many major industry events altered in-person schedules such as The Critics Choice Awards along with AFI Awards with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts canceling its Tea Party as well. This showcases an effect all across different platforms as well.
The intensity of the fires has also brought the severity of climate change to public attention and some are claiming there were past budget cuts in resources of the LAFD. There was concern about all who were directly affected, as the fires moved so fast across the region leaving no area without disruption. These factors made many to note that nature's response is never to be taken lightly and to take caution and heed warnings when provided.
This series of events has a death count up to at least 10 people and damaged thousands of structures as it swept through all of Southern California which forced a response for many families to leave in search of a safe space. Many different businesses and landmark locations were left without a structure or damaged beyond use. With high winds the devastation impacted all involved.
Despite the issues “Grey’s Anatomy” has seen many years of success as one of the longest running drama series on television and continues to hold large ratings as fans keep showing up every week.
