Baldur's Gate 3 continues to be a game that people talk about due to the high quality that Larian Studios put into it and the many ways to enjoy it. However, for those who wish to look back on the series' history and see what led up to Larian's entry, Amazon Prime Gaming has an option to check out in July.
As noted on the Prime Gaming Blog, July will feature numerous games for Amazon Prime subscribers to download for no additional cost and keep without issue, including Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. The blog revealed the games that are a part of the July lineup, including Maneater, Youtubers Life 2, Midnight Fight Express, Cat Quest 2, and Masterplan Tycoon. However, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is the big catch within that set of free titles. This is the upgraded version of the original RPG title from 1998, which was rereleased by Beamdog in 2012. The game features numerous updates and content expansions.
The story focuses on a customizable protagonist who was raised by someone who attempted to keep them within the walls of Candlekeep in a bid to keep them out of trouble. However, things soon go south, and it's up to the protagonist to save the Sword Coast from a brewing war. Like in other RPGs, including Obsidian Entertainment’s Star Wars game that Amazon has for free, the protagonist will travel around and find allies who can help them on their quest. To get this enhanced edition is a steal, especially since it comes with multiple upgrades and expanded content.
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is a great way to see the roots of the Baldur's Gate series and see how it evolved into the critically acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3. It is also a fun game on its own, and one that you will want to check out for free.
As also noted on the blog, in the lead-up to Amazon Prime Day, multiple games will be available via various platforms for Prime members, including Hitman Absolution, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Call of Juarez, and more! In total, there will be 15 games released in waves before Prime Day, which is July 16-17.
So if you are an Amazon Prime member, be sure to check out the Free Games that are being offered. There are some great titles to be had, and you won't want to miss out on this opportunity to get your hands on some classic and new games.
Even if one doesn’t get the original title, Baldur's Gate 3 is ripe with content for people to enjoy, especially when people are offering rewards for certain key Karlach dialogue. Even still, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is still a good RPG, and one with Prime Gaming should partake in the free offering.
If nothing else, it can highlight how things have evolved since its release while also showcasing the things that remain the same. It truly showcases how deep the lore of Dungeons & Dragons is and how multiple studios can do different takes on it to great effect.
