Fortnitemares 2024: A Spooky Surprise Delay!

Uh oh, Fortnite fans! Get ready for some seriously spooky news. Epic Games announced a delay for the highly anticipated Fortnitemares event, pushing the launch from Friday to Saturday at 2 AM. This is definitely not the news anyone wants right before Halloween.

The delay? Time constraints! The devs needed extra time to finalize v31.40 and make sure everything runs smoothly. This caused quite the reaction on X, with plenty of memes popping up (like DonTheBombYT's awesome Oppenheimer reference) alongside genuine frustration, disappointment and even outrage, showcasing those kinds of emotions that anyone involved with these kinds of situations might often expect: a mixture of disappointment, understandable reason and utter disappointment towards a product which might just not have properly finished.

Some fans kept a positive attitude– understanding the dev's need for quality assurance– while others are pretty furious. This showcases the kind of reactions to these sorts of announcements: The comments range from those memes (like DonTheBombYT using that infamous Oppenheimer scene) to serious gripes from SpushFNBR (“They woke up for nothing”) and  SirKensworthXIV (demanding compensation!). And this was for a delay; just one day later. People weren't very happy about waiting that entire time! Many feel that such a significant wait should also be justified by offering something of equal or comparable value in exchange; this however was ultimately not possible!

Even with the delay, it's likely the wait was worthwhile! The event (now starting Saturday at 2 AM; and lasting until November 1st) features many favorite horror and Halloween characters. The teasers show several classic characters already out (like Billy the Puppet from Saw) while the new update is expected to launch even more terrifying skins, including Mephisto (from Marvel) and Leatherface (from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Prepare for that fright-fest.
