Boosting Subject Happiness

There are a few main ways to up your subjects' happiness:

  • Happy Stations: Build places like the Music Stage (unlocks at level 26) and the Bookcase (unlocks at level 42). These spots let your subjects relax and improve their happiness. Sophisticated subjects get a bigger mood boost.
  • The Art Studio: This one's a fast track to happy subjects, but it'll cost you 675 Gems (that's pricey!). It's not always in the shop, and takes up a ton of space—the size of your Throne. But the plus? You can assign three subjects at a time!
  • Smart Rulings: Choosing the right rulings is super important. Some rules will boost happiness, while others can totally mess things up. Try to keep those with low happiness scores as your main priority! A happy subject might not care as much.

You’ll need resources to build those happy stations. The Music Stage starts at 200 Gold and 30 Limestones. Upgrades get more expensive; the first upgrade is 1,000 Gold, 150 Quarried Stones, and 50 Quartz, and the second costs 5,000 Gold, 300 Sandstone, and 150 Quartz. The Bookcase is even pricier, and it's first upgrade is 1,750 Gold, 200 Quarried Stone, and 75 Quartz!

Other Ways To Keep Things Happy

Beyond those main methods, there are some extra ways to make sure those happiness levels are stable:

  • Decorations: Decorations like the Iron Armor Stand and Sword Banner help keep things balanced! They don't add happiness but stop it from dropping super fast. They even have benefits like preventing regicide.
  • Smart Subject Grouping: Subjects with similar positive traits—like Considerate, Sophisticated, or Charming—work better together in places like the Kitchen or Loom. You can pair Bossy subjects with Volatile ones. This isn't always great!
  • Breeding: Want to have great, well behaved subjects, you're going to need to try a little marriage. Combine subjects with great traits to pass down some goodness to the next generation. You can even force marriage on enemies!
  • Lectures and Banishing: Before you kick anyone out, give ‘em a talking to! Sometimes, a stern lecture can be all it takes to save a problematic member from banishment. If all else fails—boo hoo, time to banish ‘em!
