You meet Raheir during the main storyline, unlocking the mercenary system and the central hub, the Mercenary Den. Each mercenary requires a quest: those quests are found in the Den. Some are pretty easy— exploring, combat, clearing strongholds/dungeons – others need solving mysteries and those require far more strategic effort on a player's side; yet every quest is unique in nature and really gives an in-depth view into the lore within that environment; helping enhance those kinds of plot points that would not typically be explored without taking those Mercenaries themselves into consideration!

Unlock Aldkin through "A Nameless Mystery," starting after getting Raheir at the Nahantu's Mercenary Den.   That sends players to the Kurast Bazaar for clue-hunting that might seem relatively simple, testing both investigative skills and a certain level of exploration that goes well beyond what many other storylines require, exploring covert passages and an abandoned manor – for this whole plot itself.  This rewards players with valuable loot which enhances their power greatly.

Raheir: The Mercenary That Starts It All!

You can't miss Raheir! You'll meet him during the Vessel of Hatred storyline; this introduces the Mercenary Den and is incredibly necessary to even unlock other mercenaries. This mercenary alone unlocks all the amazing mechanics in the mercenary system. Without Raheir; those quests and opportunities are all made unavailable and impossible. His role in unlocking everything demonstrates a surprisingly well-considered strategy. Which Mercenary to Unlock First? Strategy is Key!

Technically, Raheir is your first, obviously, and is incredibly necessary. Then unlock SuboVaryana, and lastly, Aldkin (he’s toughest to get). Having those others as reinforcements while tackling Aldkin's quest offers additional advantages. This specific strategy is quite good: Unlock everyone then pick that very favorite!

Each mercenary plays differently and will really affect that unique player experience depending on those personal traits and decisions made; as these considerations need to account for personal playing styles that may prioritize different mechanics over others, enhancing different types of players.
