The world of Destiny 2 keeps getting bigger and better! The Revenant episode, part of The Final Shape expansion, just dropped and it's packed with changes that show how this looter-shooter is evolving. It was a wild success in its expansion but surprisingly low in its overall sales, probably due to how much people weren't expecting the changes Bungie brought! The episode, is likely trying to give audiences something special that makes up for that big drop in sales as the first part of The Final Shape didn't deliver quite what some people expected. Here are some of the changes!
The Power Grind Returns
This one might not be loved by all but there's a lot of hype to try this out and to give audiences something fresh. A major feature that was gone for quite some time, is back in action. We’re talking the power grind. It returns to the mix, similar to what's always existed up to Season of Deep (the second one for Lightfall)! This seasonal grind will have many different kinds of events for gamers to compete in and see how much power and awesome gear they're going to get. Fans that were expecting something huge were a bit disappointed as Revenant appears lighter! This power level grind had previously been removed because there were so many complaints. That's because the "pinnacle" power levels added too many boring hours to gameplay for many, but its return, is going to test to see whether this will change!
Trials of Osiris Gets a Refresh
PvP fans rejoice! Trials of Osiris is receiving a whole bunch of quality-of-life improvements that help to really polish this endgame PvP mode. This should satisfy some of those players that found it lackluster. The map selection will change using input from those in the community that makes this more enjoyable.
- You even get new rewards for players. You could win new weapons for each battle.
- A brand new game mode. It looks to have an awesome experimental mode that limits the fireteams to one player of each class!
Weapon Mods
After some complaints, some new mods were added. A much-needed update! Even though they aren't overwhelmingly powerful, five combo mods are introduced!
- This boost two stats at once and even more so.
- You've got other things to get too including Anti-Flinch
- Better Ammo Finders!
- Scope Customization is coming back.
While there's a feeling that not a great deal has happened! These changes may look minor but are very noticeable and will give players something fresh that hasn't happened in years!
Titan Changes
The Titans will now be tanks, truly fulfilling their roles within Destiny 2. The team has added some powerful changes for this epic class! With changes to their barricades making the enemies run into this class and allowing the Titans to soak more damage. For those that felt like they weren't as strong, this will feel huge!
Garden of Salvation Crafting
The Garden of Salvation Raid has arrived with a major update for gamers. All the weapons will be craftable and these additions add to their functionality and improve the overall feel! It makes this much more worthwhile!
New Tonics
The new weapons can't be crafted but Bungie has done this before with new crafting items. Tonics appear with new updates and these will affect what you get! With four rarities that improve specific drop rates and give a temporary boost! A cool add on, that makes the process fresh!
Story Improvements
Gamers were asking for better experiences when it came to playing the "episodes" and how things flowed! Echoes felt too spread out! Revenant delivers something fresh!
- It’s given players all the story elements! That is! This isn’t some special event for certain parts of the "Acts."! They get to experience the entire story! You even get to experience it as it unfolds!
- A lot of players enjoyed the changes that removed "time-gating", but it’s also pointed out that the entire "Acts" could be beat quickly which shows the size of the season!
- With a two hour game experience. There’s almost three weeks remaining to try out this new dungeon
Onslaught Salvation
Onslaught, is an important addition!
- New maps for Guardians
- A fight against the Scorn!
What makes Onslaught Salvation so fun is that it’s important for grinding!
- Awesome weapons.
- New armor!
- Tons of crafting ingredients to improve Tonics.
Exotic Class Items
Another aspect gamers will enjoy is this opportunity to add exotic class items! This makes the Prismatic subclasses more interesting. Even though these items were introduced earlier in The Final Shape!
- This update has some significant improvements!
- The attunement process.
- You will go to your Ghost in "The Pale Heart" and select your perk
- There is some RNG
There are so many things gamers can do here, that even if you aren't getting what you expected you might be able to get those cool perks.
Vesper Host Dungeon
There's a ton of hype for a new dungeon and it really shows how big and awesome this update is!
Vespers Host is probably one of the big reasons people should tune into Revenant!
- It's got a broken Braytech Station! You get a super compelling plot here to check out a special transmission and find out that Atraks-1 is back!
- The cool part? Contest Mode will give everyone the most popular exotic Ice Breaker!
What Revenant adds, doesn't make this expansion feel too light! It seems like Bungie is continuing with this momentum as it develops a strong looter shooter, even in the face of big challenges. This should keep Destiny 2 players happy as they wait for the arrival of Heresy!
