Xbox Game Pass is getting ready for a busy August; one game that is drawing interest is Creature of Ava, a day-one release set for August 7. Developed by Inverge Studios and released by 11 bit Studios, this intriguing action-adventure game promises a singular experience evocative of well-known games as Pokémon and Palworld. Although day-one releases are limited to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users, this intriguing game should be on your radar.
Players of Creatures of Ava take on Vic, a young adventurer assigned to study the mysterious planet Ava. Vic sets off an amazing trip where she meets a wide range of extraterrestrial life and develops close relationships with them. Vic discovers how to use the special talents and powers of the species as she explores more and reveals the secrets that lie ahead by means of better understanding of the planet's mysteries.
Although meeting beautiful alien species seems appealing, Vic quickly learns that Ava's fauna is seriously threatened: The Withering. This enigmatic disease seriously jeopardizes the fragile ecosystem of the planet and might cause its total collapse. Vic has to band up with her recently acquired pals and negotiate four different biomes to fight this impending threat. They have to put out great effort together to stop The Withering and bring Ava back into equilibrium.
Focusing on non-aggressive encounters, creatures of Ava deviates from conventional action-adventure fighting methods. Vic uses an indigenous flute as her main weapon; it helps her to control animals and cure the invading corruption. This creative technique encourages a symbiotic interaction between Vic and the people living on the planet and offers a novel layer of strategy.
Renowned writer Rhianna Pratchett, who has worked on films such Beyond Divinity, Tomb Raider (2013), and Mirror's Edge, co-created the story of Creature's Ava. Pratchett's skill in creating gripping and captivating stories promises a quite immersive storytelling experience.
Not the only intriguing game scheduled for Xbox Game Pass in August is Creature of Ava. Joining the lineup on August 13, the highly regarded Mafia: Definitive Edition provides a painstakingly corrected experience of the iconic mafia narrative. Not far behind, on August 27 the indie sensation Core Keeper presents to the platform its delightful universe of exploration and creation. Though not formally announced, reports indicate that the venerable Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy might also find its way to Xbox Game Pass on August 8.
