A few Baldur's Gate 3 players have inadvertently gotten the game in whole digital form. Years in Early Access on PC. While the 2023 release was exclusively digital, a Physical Deluxe Edition was announced for 2024 and players are at last getting their copies following many delays.
The Physical Deluxe Edition includes a physical game copy on many disks for PS5 and Xbox Series X, or a Steam code for PC users, and a DLC code for the Digital Deluxe in-game content as the name suggests. Still, some iterations of the game have seen a confusion surrounding this.
Apart from the above mentioned physical copy of the game—which is distributed over two discs on PlayStation 5 and four on Xbox—Baldur's Gate 3's Physical Deluxe Edition also includes a tangible copy of the Original Game Soundtrack, which is on three CDs. Apart from other physical benefits including a Mind Flayer poster, 32 stickers, 2 patches, and a unique Deluxe Edition box made to match the style of the first two games so the whole Baldur's Gate series can be displayed together, the Physical Deluxe Edition comes with a double-sided map made of Wilbalin Buckram, a premium binding material with a cloth-like texture.
The Digital Deluxe DLC content consists in the following: Those who buy physical media would have been let down if they had entered their DLC code only to discover it was a Digital Copy of the game they just purchased; Larian's customer service is flawless in this regard. These people prefer to have their media all saved on discs for game preservation. Although those players affected still have their physical copies of Baldur's Gate 3, they now have the option of obtaining a digital copy as well and will shortly be getting the DLC.
As Redditor iWentRogue found, some Physical Deluxe Edition Xbox players used the game digitally instead of redeeming the code needed to unlock the Digital Deluxe Edition DLC. In reaction to the incident, Larian has got in touch with them and stated that individuals who have already used the code would be able to retain the Digital Copy of Baldur's Gate 3 and that the company will be issuing follow-up codes for the DLC "in the next few days."
