Bad Bunny, the international superstar, has announced a 2025 tour which features dates and destinations in unique locations. This news follows the release of his new album which focuses greatly on his love for his home country.
Bad Bunny has decided to kick off his tour with a 21 show residency in his home town Puerto Rico. He was very open that this move was not only to bring his music to his people, but because of his enjoyment for the island life he wanted to enjoy all aspects of what he had built.
The first nine of these shows are reserved specifically for residents of the island only. This act demonstrates his pride in his Puerto Rican roots. The name “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí,” (I do not want to leave here) translates to show his dedication of keeping things local for some time before his global tours.
His recent release on January 5th 2025 debuted at #2 on Billboard 200 list but also #1 on top streaming album charts. The main theme is the influence his culture has had on his growth with traditional and more recent rhythms. This makes it clear this is a big inspiration for him at this stage in his career.
The album, with many cultural references and musical rhythms is a direct display of love for his homeland. Using Puerto Rican traditions like plena , bomba, reggaeton, and dembow he has captured the culture in his music.
While his current plans include a Puerto Rico residency, the artist has plans to continue in other areas with mentions of Brazil, Mexico, and Spain. These were the only countries mentioned directly but there are many destinations being considered as they have not yet been made public.
Bad Bunny has said that many more dates in various other areas including Japan, London and Italy will be revealed at a later time which signals even bigger plans. The shows and destinations he named are areas he enjoys playing music and are places he would also like to return.
The approach to getting the tickets were specific to Puerto Rico residents. These tickets will be made available to the public in various phases which helps people have enough time to get tickets. Additionally there are travel packages with VIP options.
The first nine shows will have tickets exclusively through in person sales at local ticket locations on January 15th. This allows fans on the island to be able to have priority to purchase before they are offered on line for the entire population.
Fans will be able to explore vacation packages that include a stay in a hotel, priority access tickets and a gift bag for those that may choose. This experience can be had through an official platform that works with the company allowing different options for those looking to attend in different ways.
Bad Bunny expressed in his work how his music and story all come from his beginnings by focusing more heavily on the story of his Puerto Rico heritage, The inclusion of both the old and the new allow the viewer to connect with the past with his creative process today.
In his most recent album the artist states it’s important to not just look at Puerto Rico, but how communities within the states with those from Puerto Rico played a role as well. As seen from his performance in the Caribbean Social Club also known as "Tonita's" the Puerto Rican culture and those in the states also were key inspirations for his most recent work.
