Rita Repulsa's Daughter Turns Over The Rangers Command Center
Selena moves fast to overtake the Command Center for herself while the original Rangers and the new Green Ranger consider a different future. She makes it quite evident that her mother's revival plan is not now on her mind.
In the alternative canon of the series, decades past, Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa would do the unthinkable by killing both Zordon and Alpha-5 still inside by demolishing the Command Center. While Rita herself was swept into the Morphin Grid, the Blue Ranger's backfired Z-Wave bomb destroyed the Moon Palace and Rita's crew, therefore winning the war instead of the fight. Her secret daughter brought a presumed dead Tommy Oliver back from the Grid instead of trying and failing to revive her mother during the course of The Return. While the original Rangers and the new Green Ranger consider a different future following the last fight in The Return #4, Selena works swiftly to personally overtake the Command Center. She makes it quite evident that her mother's revival scheme is not now on her mind. Readers are left to question whether the Command Center will prove crucial in whatever fresh plan Selena is developing next – and expecting further stories set in this audacious new parallel Power Rangers community.
The Usurpation of the Command Center is a Final Act Against Zordon.
Once a safe refuge for good, it has been taken back into a shelter for evil to slumber. Whether or if The Return carries on, Selena Repulsa's penetration of the Command Center has some sinister ramifications. Historically in the franchise, an evildoer breaking into the Command Center has never resulted in positive news; however, the chances are much more dire with retribution on Selena's mind. Most importantly, her takeover is Rita's last stab of vengeance at Zordon.
Selena Repulsa lost everything over one day during the conclusion of The Return. She has lost her Putties, Finster, the contraption she intended to use to bring her mother back, and her infamous moon palace. But first step in a bigger scheme at retribution is depriving the Rangers of their perfect house. She still has access to Trini's Yellow Ranger morpher after theft, hence this is also something to consider. Selena can remain an active threat with access to the Power Rangers' house and weapons, so the universe of The Return stil has narratives to tell.
The Final Fate of the Home Base for the Power Rangers would Horrify Zordon.
Should Zordon die and be buried in his natural state, he would be rolling in his tomb to witness the Power Rangers' home base fall under demonic hands. The Command Center has been a haven for the adolescents with attitude and their mentor from the dawn of Power Rangers history. There would theoretically be no Power Rangers without it since Zordon first enlisted the Rangers by calling them to the Command Center.
Though the ending was not without shocks, Amy Jo Johnson and Matt Hotson's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #4, with art by Nico Leon, was essentially a happy climax to the tale. Particularly, the Command Center adopted a new malevolent ownership under Rita Repulsa, the daughter of Zordon's fiercest nemesis. The implications of the miniseries' ending point to more to come, in which the Command Center might perhaps prove vital in a future vengeance scheme against the Power Rangers, and maybe a larger plot for global control.
Though She Doesn't Think She Deserves It, the Classic Yellow Ranger Gets the Greatest Improvement from the Power Rangers Imaginable Here's Why She's Wrong.
The Power Rangers have never had a problem with an old opponent resurfacing in a new guise; yet, viewers may find it challenging to accept a new character filling in for an older, more established character. Given Trini Kwan's extensive impact in the franchise, this is especially delicate with relation to the Yellow Ranger.
The Yellow Ranger's comeback in Power Rangers: The Return is somewhat more convoluted. Trini was first written off of the original series, but a retcon—or rewrite—of the franchise saw her returning to assist in saving the day. This makes her fresh, bold, and very strong shape far more startling. She still battles to keep her status as "Yellow Ranger," nonetheless, despite her changed look. Though it is obvious she will be a vital aspect of The Return's new universe, it is unknown if the new Yellow Ranger will have a more prominent part in next stories.
Unbeknowst to Selena, Tommy, not her mother, rescued her life from Bandora Palace's destruction when she was a youngster.
Written by Amy Jo Johnson and Matt Hotson, The Return #4 features artwork by Nico Leon, Dono Sanchez-Almara, and Ed Dukeshire with strong morphin power Rangers.
Along with generating a fresh dynamic between the squad and their worst enemy, the comic presents an interesting turn on the history of the Power Rangers. Selena would seem to be ignorant of the fact that Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger, saved her from the death of Bandora Palace as a child—not from her mother. Later reports probably will highlight this information. Selena's new relationship with Tommy could possibly have some unanticipated effects. With plenty of shocks more to come, the Return is definitely altering what viewers believed they understood about the Power Rangers.
