Rob Liefeld Retires? Marvel's Cable Anniversary SNUBBED!

Rob Liefeld, a legend in the world of comics, is known for creating iconic characters like Deadpool and Cable for Marvel. But recently, he made a surprising announcement!

A Surprising Decision

It seems Marvel wanted Liefeld back to celebrate Cable's 35th anniversary in 2025, offering him a chance to create a whole new series. But Liefeld said no!

In an interview with Screen Rant, Liefeld shared his decision. This comes as a huge surprise as he was planning to finish Deadpool's run, leaving it up to other talented artists. He seems to feel this was the time for him to focus on his creator-owned work.

The Reason Behind The Decision

Liefeld revealed the reasons for saying no. While he isn't closing the door completely on the characters, he needs to give more attention to other, equally significant projects and characters.

  • Liefeld feels he needs to move onto other exciting ventures. He stated that saying yes to every project is not something that can always happen. In his words: "At some point, you just got to walk away."
  • He decided to focus on bringing a new era of stories through Youngblood, the pioneer comic that helped to bring Image Comics into the comic book scene!

For those that don't know, Youngblood, along with other series, like Deadpool really made an impression, and will continue to solidify Liefeld's presence for ages to come!
