Out comes The Black Dragon Zord!

This awesome giant monster can easily transition between a regular sized monster and one that can grow into an epic giant monster that matches the Zords in terms of height!

It also has a scary scream! This scream is sonic and takes away all of the Rangers' power!
To make things even more terrible for the Rangers the Black Dragon makes its way into the Morphin Grid. The Zord even has a new weapon, a powerful device that stops Rangers' from using their power coins.

This incredible and very powerful threat was eventually defeated by the team Tommy and Billy but they discovered something remarkable.

The Black Dragon Zord is revealed to have the same components from Tommy's Dragonzord. It means it was created for someone specifically! That someone was Lord Drakkon, an evil villain from another universe!
He managed to make contact as The Black Dragon appeared. When we listen closely, what's remarkable about The Black Dragon's lines are that it's actually Lord Drakkon! He can be heard even though he's not visibly appearing.

This incredible, dark Lord Drakkon storyline has some intense impacts for these epic stories that change everything. A major rule in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers came early on in the very first episode with Zordon explaining the guidelines for being a Ranger. A big one of these key rules explains when a Zord is allowed to be brought into combat.

Zordon's Rule:Zords should only fight against monsters who have grown bigger. Fighting them as regular size monsters wasn't considered "fair"!

What changed this dynamic? Lord Drakkon had something completely unexpected! He brought to the forefront a Zord monster that changed the rules entirely, showcasing something the Rangers had never encountered!
