Nog Is a Star Trek Icon, and Perhaps the Best Illustration of Its Progressive Values
Deep Space Nine's forward-looking narratives and huge, expansive ensemble are well-known. For a group this size, everyone developed personally and Nog's arc was among the best. Rom, his father, worked for his uncle Quark, brother. Nog most surely would have turned criminal had Starfleet never arrived at Deep Space Nine. But Nog will grow to be something more under the influence of Starfleet and Jake Sisko. Played by late Aron Eisenberg, Nog would turn out to be among Deep Space Nine's most developed characters.
Using an engineering technique from his universe, Nog helps restart the Avery's warp engines in Sons of Star Trek #3, so displaying what he is made of. Like his father, Nog is a trained engineer. Rom was crucial in helping mining the wormhole, which kept Gamma Quadrant troops away, during the Dominion War. Rom thought of the tools used to build the mines, maybe sparing many lives in the process. Based on Nog's improvised theta-matrix compositor, the apple fell somewhat close to the tree.
Though That Is What He Is Known For, Nog Did Not Want to be a War Hero.
As Sons of Star Trek #3 reveals, the actual tragedy of Nog's existence is that he will never live down his Dominion War military record. Though many view Nog as a combat hero, many undervalue his engineering prowess. This is sad since Nog arrived at Starfleet Academy intending to be an engineer but is more recognized as a warrior. Still, this problem reveals that Nog is a true, Scotty-level engineer, far more than just a combat hero. In many classic Star Trek episodes, Scotty saved the day; Nog is demonstrating he is cut from the same cloth.

Although very few Star Trek engineers could match Montgomery Scott, Nog has shown himself deserving of Scotty's fame. From zero to hero in the Star Trek series, Nog, the nephew of Deep Space Nine's Ferengi bartender, Though his service record in the Dominion War defines him, Nog shows his engineering ability in Sons of Star Trek #3.
Morgan Hampton wrote Sons of Star Trek #3 and Angel Hernandez drew it. Nog is caught in another universe in which the Federation is at war with the Breen. Stuck as an officer on the USS Avery, Nog is front lines when the Breen attack destroys the ship's warp engines. While Nog and Lieutenant Shaw are brainstorming ways to get the engines back online, Nog recalls how ships in his universe can recrystallize Dilithium Ships in this universe lack this ability, and Nog builds a theta-matrix composer to restart the engines.
Though Scotty's reputation in the Star Trek world is impenetrable, his most recent creation might seriously compromise his legacy.
For decades, Scotty, the USS Enterprise's chief engineer, has been renowned for his extraordinary inventiveness and problem-solving ability.
