The Joker is one of the most well-known villains, not only in comic books, but the world over! He's been in countless movies, shows, and games! But, what if this supervillain isn't simply evil?
Many think The Joker is just pure evil. However, some believe that the Joker has a surprisingly complex personality with some deeper motivations and reasons behind what makes him tick. What is so incredible about him is that this character shows an oscillation of moods. One where he can be silly and make jokes. The next, is to go on murderous rampages, leaving Batman's friends and others with trauma.
There have been a few points when The Joker isn't as crazy, like what happens in JLA #15 where the Martian Manhunter uses his powers and temporarily takes away the Joker's insanity. That short window, helped show how remorseful he is! For those few moments the Joker expressed a deep sense of guilt about the thousands he's hurt, leading some to ask to be punished, wanting to die as he wanted to atone for his terrible actions. He even expresses the same feelings in JLA #84 as well, something that gets to the real core of this iconic villain!
There have been a few points that show the Joker's change! He may have gone through major trauma, even as a sane person, showing that there may be another side to his world!
There have been a few different universes where there is an even more powerful side of the Joker. That even makes this villain one of the more important stories for all of DC Comics! It’s wild to think that the character is both evil and good. However, there have been some really remarkable moments that might convince even the biggest skeptic!
