Following Tom Taylor's high-fantasy Elseworlds book, Dark Knights of Steel, Deathstroke has formally become DC's ultimate badass by accomplishing a feat not even Batman can equal. Deathstroke kills a Kraken in the issue by plunging inside its belly and slicing his way out of its corpse. Given other DC characters, this is seen as an unmatched achievement particularly.
Especially in Elseworlds books like DC vs. Vampires and DCeased, Deathstroke boasts numerous amazing kills. But given its pure savagery and craziness, the Kraken killing is among his most amazing. Unmatched is the will needed to destroy the Kraken, let alone chop his way through its organs and muscles and conceal to escape its carcass.
The sequence is quite funny and highlights Slade's unmatched nerve and strength. This panel is the last one that really pushes Deathstroke to a fresh degree of awesome power. This is a result of Cons' amazing work and Kristoff's applaudable conversation. Slade is shown on the page fully Viking, clutching twin war axes while standing on the carcass of the Kraken, covered in blood and guts. This picture turns Slade into a figure more like a blood-soaked Norse god than a simple mercenaries.
The follow-up to Dark Knights of Steel turns its emphasis on Deathstroke the Terminator. The problem starts with Slade working for Jarl Vandal Savage as a coin-for- hire, including mercenary slaying Jarl Black Mask for Vandal. After this combat proves successful, Vandal orders Slade another mission: he will be sailing across the seven seas with Killer Frost, second-in-command.
Deathstroke becomes the ultimate Viking warlord in Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter trading in his dual katanas and firearms for a battle axe.
A Kraken strikes Deathstroke and Killer Frost's longship as it is traveling to their target. Frost kept her metahuman powers in this realm, but her attacks fail against the beast, hence Slade decides to handle things himself. Deathstroke leaps from the boat and enters the belly of the beast armed with two combat axes.
