DC Comics is About to Have Its Own "Ragnarök"

In the exciting world of DC Comics, there are amazing heroes like the New Gods, who were born from the minds of Jack Kirby! It turns out the DC Universe is going to face an apocalyptic event - the end of the world, no less - that is like a comic book version of a mythological event: Ragnarök!

What is "Ragnarök"?

Why Does Ragnarök Feel Significant?

If everything is ending in a grand destruction, then the New Gods are actually just the new version of a world that has already been reset by an ancient apocalyptic event! And the comics are set to be pretty dark, since most mythological versions of Ragnarök have some very scary things. So there will be a new story, and this is something that comic book writers have been working with for ages - in fact, you can even see the Ragnarök themes from a bunch of cultures throughout history, from the stories of the Norse gods to the prophecies of St. John in the Bible! Even Zoroastrianism! And a lot of them end badly.

Are New Gods Really Facing Their End?

  • Well, the author, Ram V, really knows mythology, as you can see from the epic storyline in Detective Comics! It was called "Gotham Nocturne," with Batman fighting werewolves - really crazy! This whole run gave us a super different, kind of fantasy feel.
  • We might even see other famous DC characters involved as well, like Superman - this one might be huge!
  • They've been putting all this mythology and history into the New Gods comic! This storyline will take them on the most challenging adventure yet!

The creators want to show us a brand new story, a different New Gods comic from what we know now! If those DC comics are set to be super epic, the writers are using a lot of real mythology! What we have is like a blend of all this, but with some really modern stories and a really fresh take. Now we gotta find out how it all ends!
