Robin Proves He Learned Some Important Tactics From Nightwing
Dick Grayson, the founder of the Alfred Pennyworth Foundation, oversees several affordable housing programs and owns a few properties in Blüdhaven. Dick even has his own apartment complex, and Nightwing shows how well he knows the paths through his own buildings in an emergency. In Nightwing #90, for example, Nightwing saves his residents from an attack. Dick quickly clears his building of residents and takes everyone to safety.
This capacity for designing escape routes is beneficial to more than just people. In the seminal issue Nightwing #87 ("Get Grayson" by Taylor, Redondo, Lucas, and Abbott), hitmen kidnap Dick Grayson's dog Haley in an attempt to lure him out. Nightwing's agility as he swings through the apartment building, taking out goons as he goes, showing a deep understanding of the space. This critical ability is especially important for Dick and Damian, as a Robin's responsibility in an attack is often to clear civilians while Batman pursues the culprit.
Damian Wayne has expanded Nightwing's skill at escapes.
Despite his previous escape attempts, Dick does not lead the evacuation in Nightwing #115. Instead, Dick assigns Damian and Barbara to get people to safety. He relies on Oracle's known ability to communicate clearly and lead, but he has complete trust in Damian's evacuation plan. Nightwing, trusting his younger brother's experience, literally hands off the leash - not only to his "adorable dog," but to the Gotham gala audience, which he's surely escorted to safety hundreds of times before.
Nightwing may be focusing on the threat, but when it comes to the audience, he trusts Damian's experience and abilities. While Bruce and Dick explore the interior, Damian Wayne will be in charge of the attendees' safety as they make their way clear of the fire, and Robin will finally step up as the tactical expert he was born to be.
Robin proves he's an A-List tactical genius by stealing Nightwing's smartest trick.
Warning: Spoilers for Nightwing #115.
When faced with an emergency in a crowded building, Robin demonstrates how far he has surpassed Nightwing as a Tactical Genius. Damian Wayne's aversion to formal settings complements his tactical abilities: when the Fire Alarm goes off at a charity function, he promptly discovers the best escape routes. Damian isn't the only Robin who takes satisfaction in his successful escapes.
Damian attends the Alfred Pennyworth Foundation gala, reluctantly dressed in a tuxedo as a favor to his older brother (and Robin precursor), Dick Grayson. His displeasure is palpable (and slightly hilarious) to his relatives in attendance. However, Robin's dislike for formal settings serves everyone at the gathering well when the Fire Alarm sounds and the building must be evacuated. In Nightwing #115 by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo, Barbara inquires, surprised, if Damian knows the best escape routes from each building he enters. Damian, channeling his father, responds with a sullen and stern "yes."
Damian Wayne’s Tactical Abilities in Nightwing #115
Despite his dislike for formal ceremonies, Damian demonstrates his abilities as Robin in a serious emergency. During the fire alarm during the Alfred Pennyworth Foundation fundraiser, Damian promptly takes leadership of the evacuation, exhibiting his outstanding understanding of the architecture and escape routes.
Damian's tactical abilities reflect both his training and his inherent talent. He has learnt from the best, inheriting his father's strategic thinking and his brother's commitment to assisting people in need. Damian's role in the fundraiser's evacuation demonstrates that he is more than a gloomy, rebellious teenager; he is a true hero capable of leading and defending others in the face of adversity.
Nightwing's Experience in Evacuation Planning
Dick Grayson adopted the superhero identity Nightwing after growing out of his role as Robin and became his own superhero. Inspired by the original Kryptonian hero of the same name, Grayson has ascended to comic book immortality with the persona, garnering acclaim as one of the DC Universe's finest leaders.
Nightwing's expertise in evacuation planning stems from his extensive training and experience. He is not only a skilled warrior, but also a strategic thinker who can appraise situations and devise methods to protect civilians. Nightwing's commitment to defending innocent lives, along with his tactical ability, distinguishes him as a true hero in the DC Universe.
Robin's Position in Civilian Safety
Nightwing #115 is currently available from DC Comics. Nightwing #115 (2024)
In the world of superheroes, citizen protection comes first. While Batman frequently battles adversaries, Robin's position is generally more complex. Damian Wayne, as the current Robin, exhibits his abilities to control a crowd and keep everyone safe. His commitment to safeguarding civilians, along with his tactical abilities, make him an invaluable addition to the superhero community. Robin's actions in Nightwing #115 show that he is ready to take on a leadership position and has the ability to be a great hero in his own right.
