Their iconic matchup happened very early on! It was part of X-Men: First Class Vol. 2 #5! It even predates Hulk joining the Avengers. The X-Men, with Cyclops still considered new in his role, found themselves against a giant force of nature: The Hulk.
How Did the Fight Between Hulk and Cyclops Play Out?
The X-men used a series of attacks that were quite interesting, especially the way they were underestimated. While Iceman attempted to freeze Hulk, Beast tried a brute-force approach with a kick to the face. None of these seemed to faze the mighty Hulk! Then Cyclops launched his "Cyclops Optic Blast" towards the Hulk! In the resulting Hulk Comic Fight, Hulk was stunned by Cyclops' attack, being thrown backward to form a trench.
