The Elseworlds comic Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham takes a shocking twist as it turns Bruce Wayne into the villain. Unlike the usual version of Batman who fights crime in Gotham City, Bruce is no longer the Billionaire Vigilante but is instead a criminal who murders and preys on others. This darker, Twisted Universe takes a more dramatic twist as he even ends up marrying Catwoman, ultimately making the reveal of his true character an even more sinister moment.
In Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham, Bruce Wayne’s transformation into an antagonist makes him even more sinister than the Clown Prince of Crime - even more dangerous than Joker. His actions - which include murders and his ultimate cruelty in making Catwoman his significant other while hiding his true identity - are meant to emphasize the darker side of Bruce Wayne’s journey and, perhaps, give readers a different take on his personality.
As a long-standing DC Comics character, Catwoman often is known as a thief. But her presence has brought in different elements to those storylines in the Batman franchise - as she shifts from being a villain into being an antiheroine, and occasionally, she is also viewed as one of Batman’s most powerful allies. While Catwoman continues to be a Batman’s feline foe, there has been a change as she has had to take on the role as the primary hero, particularly in Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham.
In this universe that serves as an alternative narrative - Selina Kyle becomes Catwoman as a way to take revenge for the murder of her parents - as the Kyles have to replace the Waynes. She has also found a chance to create a Cat Family, and, in many cases, she’s also been seen as an exceptional Hero - which is made evident through those actions she takes in this Twisted Universe.
While Catwoman has become Gotham’s protector - this has brought forth an assortment of challenges and battles. Catwoman - after she lost her parents ( a tragic event which mirrors the Bruce Wayne Origin - and led to a more somber turn in her story) - is thrust into this difficult world.
She is now forced to go on a journey of fighting for justice and trying to confront her past. She ends up having to face the greatest of challenges in the world as she comes to confront those Gotham Villains. In Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham, she's confronted by the villain of the series - Bruce Wayne. Bruce is an alternate version of the Dark Knight - which gives him an evil dimension - he’s even revealed to have been responsible for the murders of her parents, which ultimately drove Catwoman’s actions as she made the journey toward the path as a Hero, while also taking the journey to defeat her greatest and most sinister villain.
Batman - who has always served as a hero within DC Comics and across countless books, shows a unique element that’s seen through this alternative story arc, specifically in Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham. As he becomes the villain, his approach to fighting crime becomes incredibly dangerous - which highlights how this Dark Knight might be more menacing than Joker - and far more cunning in terms of those who can cause great destruction across Gotham.
Those who follow the Dark Knight of Gotham City are often fascinated with his skills and talents - one of the most significant parts to consider: Batman is known for his extraordinary combat abilities and is considered the World Leading Martial Artist and the world's most proficient detective. He even uses those tactics as he's able to defeat many Gotham Villains. It's easy to see how those same talents, especially his approach to strategy, could make him an even more threatening force as a villain in an alternate reality - which would force Catwoman to fight to save her city and also those who are caught in those battles.

One instance of a connection occurs in this particular story: Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham. Those fans who know how Catwoman is known as a Batman Feline Foe will know just how complex these connections can be. She's had several appearances across a multi-decade history, but they haven’t had the opportunity to see the level of intensity and deceit that was presented within Catwoman: Guardian of Gotham - an interesting story, one that those who follow Batman’s world will want to see. It even takes on a complex storyline, one which expands upon the Batman’s Personal Life - giving fans a more unconventional take on their favorite DC Comics characters, but also highlighting how even a world where a Dark Knight would become a Batman Evil Alternate Universe Version, a role he would assume as a Worst Foe.
Those following Catwoman’s exploits across those countless storylines, which have had both a positive and even negative impact in the Batman world, can be considered to have their own Secret Identity. As one of Batman’s most recognized antagonists ( and at times his greatest ally). However, in recent stories, she’s developed her own network: A Cat Family - that’s made up of individuals with their own backgrounds. The individuals in Catwoman's "circle" serve to further reinforce Catwoman's ability to confront the forces that often cause a threat to the city.
Catwoman has grown into her role - a shift that takes shape through her own journey. There have also been a number of changes with Catwoman - including those moments when she makes an attempt to help Gotham . A few instances that have shown her as Gotham Best Hope - where she stands out as the city’s last hope for protection as it is constantly facing an onslaught of those who are intent on causing harm. However, the overall focus has always been to ensure those within this story - are presented as complex characters, including Catwoman’s Latest Foe and how that shapes their lives - as well as those individuals in Gotham, a city that needs to face down countless Iconic Villains to secure their city.
