Batman stopped the Joker's scheme, but once the government placed Lucius Fox in charge of Wayne's account, he was unable to access his money. Later, when "Gotham War" broke out, Batman learned that Vandal Savage had bought Wayne Manor and the Batcave and turned them into his permanent homes.
Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's father figure and the devoted butler of Batman, is honored by the name Pennyworth Manor. The manor honors Alfred's heritage while symbolizing Batman's Fresh Start. Batman has the opportunity to provide his family with a safe haven and pay tribute to Alfred's legacy.
