Okay, Marvel fans, let’s talk about Yelena Belova joining the Thunderbolts. Seriously, the Yelena Belova Thunderbolts combo is going to be epic. And it's way more nuanced than just "Oh, Natasha’s gone, so let's plug in the new Black Widow." Seriously, some articles make it sound like she's just a replacement part. Nope. Florence Pugh ’s MCU journey brings something special. Think of it more as opening up the spy world beyond a single iconic persona; frankly, it brings many new things than some previously believed to be the standard, by completely reshaping these preconceived notions of character type, role and how actors or viewers will actually relate to character interpretation, and even personality; particularly to someone accustomed with the much larger corpus across Marvel’s characters and universes.
What does this bring to her fans? Much of that discussion happens exactly around those themes, around which many others discuss around various characters within the wider MCU.
Let’s also give huge props to Florence Pugh – honestly, my friend; did you actually love Yelena Belova? You do. We all know she can play the funny, badass super spy with heart! Seriously! She took Yelena to that height; to such an iconic spot.
And you already knew she was a Marvel legend from watching Black Widow (both versions! – well at least to people in our multiverse! ) so there’s some truly unique storylines for fans to enjoy discovering throughout those series as well!
Now, with the Yelena Belova Thunderbolts thing, some viewers were concerned initially about how her character introduction within Black Widow could be interpreted with an official team involvement alongside what has always seemed like Marvel’s antagonist super-group. I had exactly that thought.
Let me tell you about something: she didn’t get assigned merely because they needed a Widow; she fills the niche as one of the key figures with her past; but especially given all this team brings!
Now here’s where my imagination goes crazy. With Florence Pugh joining other high-tier Marvel actors like David Harbour, there are some super insane interactions possible; truly explosive plot twists, my friend!
The thing about Florence Pugh in the MCU? Her potential is enormous. It is definitely much larger than just the Yelena Belova Thunderbolts combination. Let’s explore that because her talent’s going way higher!
People have talked a bunch about crossovers with other MCU series, other hero and even anti-hero stories within the Marvel world where the original context was the specific storyline that was meant to show Yelena and Natasha meeting. People talk more about their appearance now; we have a much better understanding after many hours spent with the character – it gave everyone so much needed backstory for her entire story arc. Even her solo appearance without needing Natasha, also has much stronger connection and meaning than many initially expected, making everything even greater and so satisfying to those that watch these again! Truly fantastic. Can anything be better?!
While Thunderbolts could completely take all focus because they put everyone together – we all know more than that. Honestly: We also still haven't had nearly enough Florence Pugh.
So, yeah – while I still don't know what might come to being after these shows! I expect Yelena Belova Thunderbolts won't be all of Yelena's future! Frankly, this seems like just a chapter and people can not hope for something less at this point.
Now, my advice: Go rewatch Florence Pugh in Black Widow – you’ll definitely not forget she is meant to be somewhere alongside Hawkeye; you'll feel better once that feeling appears! Really!
