But his true strength? His insane ability to mentor troubled youngsters. Seriously. The guy’s done it constantly; guiding many troubled young mutants such as Kitty Pryde and Kid Omega; many might've forgotten these younger members within the X-men roster or the Jean Grey School, giving those mutant kids a safe place to grow. Nobody does it better than Logan! He’s a freakin' amazing mentor; showing this specific element within his character in several instances, showcasing just how caring Logan's hidden side truly is.
That Wendigo encounter shows this key skill and shows those very nuanced interactions, demonstrating this ability as the heart of his whole persona. Running From Destiny: Wolverine's Hidden Self
That Wendigo meeting isn't simply some cool fight sequence, either! It shows Wolverine's core nature– his desire to escape from that destiny: his role as a mentor. Sure, that violent life and destiny always seem to find him—but he can’t completely run away! He's always helping troubled young mutants who always need him; needing somebody who doesn't give up— this really encapsulates the story told. Leaving Rogue and her team, that doesn't matter. Those kids find him.
Focusing on claws or healing factor is ignoring that extremely critical element! That's wrong, fans!
