Thunderbolts Bucky: The Winter Soldier's Next Chapter (And Why It's Kind of a Big Deal)
Alright, Marvel fam, let’s talk about something that's got everyone buzzing: Bucky Barnes joining the Thunderbolts. Yes, you heard that right, the Winter Soldier – our very own Bucky Barnes – is trading in his solo act (and bromance with Sam) for a team-up with a group of morally gray characters, in what's easily predicted to become the main role in the movie and its story! I don't know about you, but I personally expected him back together with Wilson at first, rather than part of a villain team-up!
Now, before we delve into the whole "thunderbolts bucky" situation, let me get one thing straight: Some sources are showing that people have voiced their reservations or doubts about his role here – even showing some rather vocal criticism based on what little bits of news or unofficial releases related to Thunderbolts and Bucky Barnes Thunderbolts roles exist now; it made him even become one of the hottest trending discussions about MCU releases at this moment!
I think it’s amazing because even amidst some negativity regarding that casting decision for Bucky, people want to share what’s not working as easily as what is. How much is working as it is or not and why it is like that! Having Bucky trend as such, in ways it shouldn't – is it really not perfect when considering long term franchise evolution?! If he appeared in some capacity that doesn't match audiences, isn’t it perfectly fine?! All of the buzz surrounding how these different plot developments and characters were used or misused! Now that’s a real surprise hit – everyone loves talking about all of these surprises related to casting and script; the negative feedback will disappear by virtue of so many others actually being genuinely interested. No one would pay attention if it did not cause something interesting to have occurred! So many unexpected turns were used as the actual key to making it work like never before, this way.
Bucky in the Thunderbolts: A Fresh Start?
This isn't about the Bucky we used to know in early phases and his Winter Soldier appearances.
In Falcon and Winter Soldier we’ve seen Bucky struggle with his past (if that ever really leaves you?), working his way towards becoming who he could and wanted to be after facing the pain his time and past traumas caused, rather than what he originally wanted.
From an acting point of view I imagine how hard acting would really be like after years acting roles featuring and showing and emphasizing Bucky's internal conflict, turmoil and angst.
Honestly? Bucky Barnes Thunderbolts makes so much sense from a pure narrative storytelling point of view: It offers the possibility and space to finally become free, through facing the consequences of the sins from his troubled and problematic past; I frankly imagine this won’t really be possible without revisiting some of Bucky’s personal storylines, so don't worry yet; you won’t likely forget the character we know, while simultaneously learning so much more about him by exploring his entire storyline in deeper meaning. This also works like a form of rebirth of the actual franchise around it in such unexpected ways and will lead audiences toward seeing those same actors they loved back – for the sake of revisiting past characters. It truly changes how actors would see their entire Mcu story arcs evolving. Which is another insane advantage created from this decision!
Why the Thunderbolts Are a Good Fit for Bucky (Really!)
So many are focusing exclusively and only in “bad fit” storylines and possible future problems and challenges related to what might eventually show. While we have so little footage publicly available – it gives ample reasons for audiences to wonder – precisely what made so much of these other aspects make little to no sense after watching only some small segments featuring the whole Bucky Barnes Thunderbolts crew and interactions!
- Leadership Potential: He actually makes a perfect and most surprisingly ideal leader, as well. Seriously. His tactical experience – not only related to skills or military prowess but rather from Bucky’s actual role and interaction dynamics within these more complex dynamics involved, makes him able to guide that unruly, eclectic group.
- Redemption Arc: Now, finally having the option to redeem from the crimes of his past while under brainwashing, now we may find this side of the storyline actually makes so much sense, no matter whether it goes wrong initially, because that could even give future ideas that also seem to work very easily based exclusively on the need to fix a prior plot decision.
- Shared Trauma: Bucky's past is going to resonate with the others within the team; he shares traumas with the others which allows him the space for deeper interaction across many storylines at the same time
While we still don’t know enough to assess every aspect involved. It’s already clear based on previous storylines why “Thunderbolts Bucky” might become such a big deal later down the line – and frankly; some plot holes appear that don’t match the full impact of such complex plot planning! Some plot devices only exist with that kind of future development already expected – It’s truly awesome how they did this, and all related articles clearly show and agree with it – how surprisingly good even only from Bucky’s addition to the film crew! Some have been pointing that in the end they don't really even care how badly it plays as long as Sebastian Stan is acting it – isn't this an insane victory already and so much more positive than otherwise anticipated! No wonder why its a surprise trend in countless reviews!
Even if Thunderbolts Bucky will feel totally different at first from earlier versions – Bucky's arc is likely going to move forward significantly! This has made many so much more interested than originally thought – it works.
