But those very moments made those final, violent acts more upsetting— a stark contrast; the quiet hopefulness, compared with this total horrific end makes those scenes extremely impacting; generating intense sorrow because the viewer is reminded what's going to happen.

Glenn’s entire arc's conclusion begins at the Hilltop; a turning point highlighting this brief yet powerful moment of peace – and everything else that follows involves those cruel ironies and adds to this overall profoundly sad, gut-wrenching reality: a story created by this contrast in these two unique scenarios.
