Wolverine is Back and It's Not Pretty in the New Digital Series "Savage Wolverine"
Hold on to your hats, folks! The legendary Marvel character, Wolverine (also known as Logan) is back in a brand-new digital comic, and this time, it's a horror story. If you like body horror and some gnarly fights, this is the story for you! The new Savage Wolverine Infinity Comic gives Logan an unforgettable encounter with some pretty horrifying villains!
Get ready for this action-packed eight-issue miniseries created by an awesome team: Tom Bloom (the mind behind the awesome series Kill 6 Billion Demons), artist Devmalya Pramanik (you know him from Vengeance of the Moon Knight!), Guillermo Sanna (he worked on X-Men Unlimited), and the amazing colorist, Java Tartaglia. The first two issues have dropped on Marvel Unlimited already, and the remaining chapters are coming out every week. So get those phones and tablets ready!
Body Horror Gone Wild: Wolverine Takes On The Beacon
Imagine a ghost town with messed-up folks all warped by this freaky thing called "The Beacon." These unfortunate souls get their bodies turned into bizarre messes with bone spikes and all kinds of fleshy things, but they can still act, even insult Logan for being a mutant. Yuck, but also really cool! And Logan is in the middle of it, about to fight his way through all of those weird creatures! It's brutal, crazy, and a little messed-up!
You can find the Savage Wolverine Infinity Comic on Marvel Unlimited, where you'll see this unique format. It's an infinite scroll, with those comic panels linked together so it feels like you are flipping pages without having to wait to download the next one. This new format is ideal for those Comics with complex storylines like X-Men: Green and the epic X-Men Unlimited. It's also a good format for those talented webcomic artists.
Wolverine's World: After the Krakoan Age
The Savage Wolverine comic picks up where the X-Men left off. The mutants are kind of all over the place because their nation of Krakoa went kablooey! And Logan? He's feeling more cynical than ever. But then we see him on the new Uncanny X-Men team, which is kinda surprising since he wants to put his hero life behind him. But what is it that makes this comic a standout?
It seems like those feelings about "giving up being a hero" make this comic even more intriguing since it features the lonely, more solitary side of Wolverine, exactly how we find him in those first couple of chapters. We have to wonder how he got to that point.
Savage Wolverine Has More to it than Monster Fights
While The Beacon is making everyone’s bodies weird and gross, there is also a deep layer of commentary happening too! In the story, The Beacon uses a radio show to get people all fired up with all kinds of wacky conspiracy theories, making them obsessed and twisted! We all have to wonder what the point is. It’s an excellent way for writers to link the comic to those issues that affect real people, so it's not just a violent story - there is a strong social and cultural connection too. It shows just how powerful those kinds of ideas and narratives can be in influencing people and transforming their worldviews.
Savage Wolverine definitely isn't for everyone, but if you like the horror element with some really dark storytelling (and those really gruesome villains) you're in for a treat!
A Comic That's Anything But "Savage" - It's Gripping
This comic feels so well-written. It has all that grit and attitude of the original Wolverine character we all know and love, but the writers really nail those darker themes too. And let's talk about the artwork, seriously impressive stuff. Every panel just pops. You feel that violence and all that mayhem in those gruesome battles!
You really can't miss the first two issues, and they're available right now on Marvel Unlimited! But what happens next? How does this comic tie back to the current world of the X-Men? We’ll just have to keep reading to find out!
