The Hulk is one of the most popular Marvel characters! But how does the MCU version compare to the Marvel Comics version?
Hulk In Marvel Comics
The Hulk first appeared in 1962 and has a long history in Marvel Comics! His powers are almost unmatched. His super strength increases with his anger, there's no limit to how strong he can get! He's been called the strongest mortal being in the Marvel universe.
- He can leap crazy distances.
- He can cause earthquakes!
- He can use his signature thunderclap.
His skin can handle almost anything! High-caliber bullets? Enchanted blades? Even a hit from Mjolnir? Not a problem. Vibranium and adamantium are about the only things that can hurt him much, and even then, his healing factor is insane! He's even been shown to come back to life after being totally destroyed thanks to something called The Green Door.
And his stamina? He can fight almost forever. Though he's been shown to run out of energy sometimes (like that time against Sentry), his strength, rage, and stamina generally make him a nearly unstoppable force.
Hulk In The MCU
The MCU Hulk is definitely strong, but he's not quite as crazy strong as his comic counterpart. While the MCU Hulk has all the big abilities:
- super strength
- thunderclap
- super agility
- super speed
- super durability
- healing factor
- radiation resistance
We aren't entirely sure how much his rage affects his power, though we've seen clues in The Incredible Hulk and Avengers: Age of Ultron. And while he is clearly strong in these appearances, things like telepathic resistance are completely missing, as we saw in Avengers: Endgame. He’s also never shown any sign of being immortal.
MCU Hulk Vs. Comics Hulk: Who Wins?
Based on what we know, the comics Hulk is way more powerful. The MCU has nerfed the Hulk so other heroes seem stronger. Having a planet-busting Hulk on the Avengers team would really reduce the stakes, and wouldn't that be sad? The MCU Hulk has certainly been shown to have these epic feats in some of his battles. He’s also not invincible.
But hey, maybe some future MCU Hulk will get closer to his comic book self in terms of power.
