The Ultimates Fighting for the Fate of the Whole Earth
Though it won't be easy, the Ultimates discovers a scattered collection of heroes trying to overthrow the Maker's rule. Attacked New York and framed Tony for the crime, The Hulk—who has assumed control of the Maker's Council in their boss's absence—turned the Ultimates into sought terrorists. Now the Ultimates are battling to establish a rebellion out of the heroes who were compelled to live regular lives thanks to the Maker's intervention in their destiny, therefore returning powers to those who might be relied upon to fight for justice. With this world's Doctor Doom, Captain America, Thor, Sif, the Wasp and Giant-Man banding together to fight for their freedom, Tony has evolved into the group's de facto leader.
Tony Stark is still a teenager under the pseudonym "Iron Lad," in this planet. Captain America, meanwhile, was never thawed from the ice and Thor spent most of his life imprisoned by Loki; Sif was his unwilling jailer. Even they got off simple, with the Maker killing Sentry and heroes like the Fantastic Four.
In Marvel's New Ultimate Universe, Midas Is the President.
Until they have destroyed the Maker's Council, the Ultimates have little chance against the Maker; it appears they intend to start by attacking their puppet president, Doctor Midas. Though he also participated heavily in 2014's Original Sins arc, Midas first surfaced in Grant Morrison and J.G. Jones's 2000 comic Marvel Boy. Living by the idea that every circumstance might be used to his advantage, Midas is a covert billionaire. Originally seen sporting what looked to be Tony Stark's original Mark 1 Iron Man armor, Midas spent years seeking the combined powers of the Fantastic Four by exposing himself to cosmic radiation.
Midas's only superhuman skill at first was to transform anything he touched to gold; but, he was successful finally by combining Mister Fantastic's stretching, Invisible Woman's force barriers, Human Torch's flame, and the Thing's rough body. Since then, he has improved himself with telepathy, a huge healing tool and even Cosmic Awareness - an ethereal link to the greatest secrets of the universe shared by characters like Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock. Midas was exiled to the Dark Dimension at one point, but true to form was able to manipulate this to his advantage and send an army of the local Mindless Ones back to attack Earth.

Ultimates Showcasing Marvel's Visionary Approach to Its New Continuity
Though Marvel Boy is not among Marvel's most well-known comics, its characters are immensely rich in concepts and its titular Marvel Boy would go on to join the Young Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, so it is cherished by ardent fans even if it is far from one of Marvel's most well-known titles. Even so, the villain of the series is a very deep cut to serve as one of the Ultimates' very first foes, even if he exactly captures the warped, self-serving character of the planet the Maker has produced. Marvel has no intentions to dish up the same old characters in the same old ways, hence the decision to reimagine Midas as a key impediment to the Ultimates is evidence that anything may happen in this new universe.
Using a villain that has appeared in so few stories has one of the main benefits in that the Ultimate Universe isn't opposing a lot of collected Marvel continuity—the very reason the Ultimate Universe originally formed. Marvel is clearly swinging with the Ultimate Universe and providing fans with a narrative they wouldn't get elsewhere as Captain America battles to bring down the president.
Marvel Turns Its Most Underrated Villain into America's Most Powerful Man Alive (Making a Bold Statement About New Continuity)
Captain America's Ultimates squad is confronting a Z-list villain who is constantly deserving more time in the spotlight as Marvel's new Ultimate Universe reveals its distorted new version of Marvel history. The version of the Avengers in this universe, the Ultimates are the ultimate underdog superheroes fighting against a secret world order holding the entire planet under their influence. Though readers previously knew the Maker's Council—the covert group at the top of the conspiracy—they will be astounded at who the villains choose to install in the White House.
Fans can see Captain America leading Iron Lad, Wasp, and Giant-Man in an assault on the White House in an exclusive preview of Ultimates #2 from Comicbook.com. The Ultimates arrive to the Oval Office in the textless pages only to find that the savage Doctor Midas, sometimes known as the Cosmic Man, now rules the nation.
the New World
America was split in 1969 under the new Ultimate Universe continuity into the North American Union and the Society of South America along with several regional powers. Howard, the father of Tony Stark, used to covertly oversee this sector under Obadiah Stane. Howard rebelled after learning the full scope of their influence over the planet after being accepted into the secret Maker's Council, sealing their boss the Maker inside his own base for two years. Tony now has that time to overthrow the Maker's rule and equip the planet to meet him upon return.
An evil form of Reed Richards, The Maker uses time travel to alter the whole history of Earth-6160. Having seen Marvel's mainstream reality and past, the Maker was able to transform some like the Hulk and X-Men's Colossus into his lackies on the Maker's Council while preventing the beginnings of any heroes who might oppose him.
Ultimates: The Past of This World
Although the Maker's Council and their domains were first presented in the epic Ultimate Invasion (Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch), Marvel has been showing more of the tactics the villains employ to keep power over recent months. While Ultimate Spider-Man (Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto) has exposed a cadre of covert assassins (including Daredevil villain Bullseye), Ultimate Black Panther (Stefano Caselli and David Curiel) has seen the evil Moon Knight trying to crush dissidents in Wakanda quietly deviant from the Maker's plans. The Ultimates #2 will now explore the "leaders" who openly control the planet while surreptitiously answer to the Maker.
Tony Stark is assembling a fresh Avengers team, and they have the ideal war cry as they approach their first major conflict.
Marvel Comics July 10 has the Ultimates #2.
