Keanu Reeves as Ghost Rider: The MCU Fan Art That's Breaking the Internet

Keanu Reeves as Ghost Rider? This MCU Fan Art Is FIRE!

Keanu Reeves as Ghost Rider: Fan Art Makes a Childhood Dream a Reality

Keanu Reeves is awesome. Seriously awesome. After the John Wick franchise, Keanu's career completely exploded – re-establishing this action star's insane potential! Now this insane idea–Keanu as Ghost Rider in the MCU! This incredible piece of fan art brings Keanu's lifelong dream to life and this alone is an extremely exciting piece that must be celebrated and highlights an incredibly iconic character choice!  It makes many fans absolutely ecstatic.

@21xfour on Instagram shared a killer piece: it shows the actor as Johnny Blaze; sporting that famous leather jacket, with that terrifying flaming skull next to him! It really looks awesome! This brilliant and perfectly conceived design showcases the actor as he should be: as a fully realized superhero ready to kick some ass; showcasing those intense themes which must remain present to convey exactly what Ghost Rider needs in the MCU, as described in the paragraphs that follow.

This art is especially cool considering the other potential that Reeves might be brought in to play in a Marvel context: The Punisher role would be insanely perfect (even though Jon Bernthal's already taken it)! There isn’t actually an official version of Ghost Rider yet— the Robbie Reyes version in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is unconfirmed.   The possibility remains that Marvel's willingness to acknowledge and use many different story plots to create new entries to the cinematic universe. The possibility of Keanu Reeves joining that group could greatly influence that particular cinematic direction.

Ghost Rider's MCU Debut: What it Might Mean

The possibility of bringing Ghost Rider into the MCU has existed for many years,  but that never happened!  That missed opportunity; including the nearly-missed cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine (starring Ryan Reynolds) could’ve used Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider version – purely for fun (Cage’s solo movies failed); yet after some reconsideration and better production values which were recently more commonly available that missed cameo turned out to be a pretty smart choice; given those various details highlighted by those films previously, thus emphasizing that not taking risks sometimes could greatly benefit a large-scale cinematic project! It didn't quite have the overall appeal that a project of that kind and scale really required! The MCU needs time and the chance to bring those older concepts into a new setting.

This is only made much more intense by the recent success of more supernatural storylines, many of which rely on older versions of stories, creating different ways to use themes previously featured: It begins with titles like Agatha: Coven of Chaos (that show’s been extremely successful and popular!); also Werewolf by Night. Those films open the door. And the highly anticipated Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali? Even bigger potential here; highlighting another aspect.

Ghost Rider needs this unique space! His tone, style; is unique. A really compelling way to make this particular entry into the MCU even bigger. The intensity surrounding such a beloved character is not limited and should ideally make another attempt worthy of serious consideration!

While Keanu Reeves would be epic;  I have doubts. He had Marvel talks previously. The previous attempt by Mahershala Ali (directly contacting Kevin Feige for the Blade role and succeeding, shows that making such personal calls and approaches often results in a good outcome) suggest that Reeves’s wish likely would already have been given a green light by Marvel itself. My personal feelings lean toward Ryan Gosling being a better option.

That Ghost Rider fan art?   Amazing! Reeves as Johnny Blaze would certainly bring something unique to the MCU, it totally demonstrates another level of understanding in making an existing fanbase very, very happy!  It’s really compelling. The intensity of fan response makes one hope for a potential crossover to eventually occur between Reeves and the Marvel Cinematic Universe; further demonstrating the possible directions for Marvel’s existing plot; yet that dream probably won't be met!   Hopefully Marvel might rethink this later—there are reasons this could totally work!
