Justice League of the 1990s: Fan Art Reimagines a Lost World

Remember the iconic heroes from DC Comics? The Justice League? It appears one amazing artist took a step back in time!

Kerry Callen has brought together some incredible, fan-favorite heroes that dominated comic book storylines. And now in a brand new way! This tribute takes fans to a great nostalgic trip.

The 1990s had a whole new range of heroes! These stories came out of DC Comics and became super popular!

You could even say this set of characters was on a fast track to a brand new era of DC Comics lore, and that included major makeovers! Many of these super heroes have stories full of twists!

There are some incredible talents out there, particularly Kerry Callen. The artist created some really special Fan Art!

  • You may not recognize Kerry Callen right away! But if you ever saw the classic, humorous magazine, "Mad Magazine," it's possible that he was a major artist who really worked his magic to bring everyone some epic creations.

A Look Back At DC in the 1990s

The 1990s were all about DC changing its approach, but the fans ate it up! The DC heroes that we know and love today. Even more, this was a moment when they brought new talent, new adventures to fans, making these stories really come to life.

That period really had some special characters:

  • Green Lantern Kyle Rayner - he is one of the greatest and most compelling figures, and that goes for fans who love to dive into those "Green Lantern" stories!
  • Green Arrow Connor Hawke - one of the greatest archers and he came to the scene and really set the bar high! It brought audiences something new.
  • There's that mysterious, powerful hero- the Azrael Batman!

While it seemed like everyone went through major shakeups in DC! A lot of that took place before "Superman's" grand return.

The period was so cool!

DC in the 1990s Took Big Risks:

"The Death of Superman", the moment that really started making DC fans excited!

DC took major steps with their most popular series. These incredible stories got everyone talking.

Some key points are hard to miss, even today.

  • "Knightfall". When Azrael came in for a time, taking on the responsibility to protect Gotham City and take on those evil bad guys who got in his way!
  • Another series was "Emerald Twilight"! It had one of the most memorable storylines that got fans really excited because it seemed that this particular moment brought in Kyle Rayner. What had been an intense storyline. Gave way to an exciting adventure, allowing fans to see the evolution of "Green Lantern"

That was a pretty wild period to have new adventures and storylines all the time!

Earth-8, A Powerful DC Universe

The story didn't end with a huge, crazy set of comic storylines!

DC was always innovating and doing a great deal of expansion to make it more fascinating!

Fans of DC Comics who have seen their collection! It had more than just one incredible dimension!

To go further into "Earth-8" it had so much power to change these "Crisis" events in these great stories that took a more modern approach.

It was the perfect, awesome world for "DC"! That came right before these amazing stories were being brought to life at the time.

The Death Of A Universe:

You may know what we're talking about: the "Crisis on Infinite Earths"

Fans of the comics are well aware that they have to follow some crazy twists and turns. The one thing that always stuck with fans was how this particular crisis affected these universes. Earth-8 went through its downfall.

  • DC Comics created a huge story in "Infinite Crisis"
  • Earth-8 was not a world to celebrate for a time. It didn't really disappear! Fans got some background information about what really made it so powerful back in "Infinite Crisis," issue #5

A loss that hurt fans but one that is still celebrated! It appears Callen has given this world a little bit of its history, in an impressive moment!

"Callen" managed to create a true testament to Earth-8.

While the comics were never able to see this come together in an epic way. These characters got their own shot in Callen's remarkable artwork!

  • This set of super heroes really showed that a "Justice League" might have come to the rescue!
  • You could almost imagine these figures. But then that wasn't the case.

Kerry Callen's piece allows us to get an even greater insight and brings us back into DC Comics' fascinating lore. What really makes this more powerful, is that the art piece may make these iconic figures all the more incredible! A big shout-out for Kerry Callen for creating something truly fantastic for those of us who miss these amazing and powerful characters from the comics!
