This isn't just a buff for Jean; it's a universe-shaking event! The entire Marvel universe needs to deal with her practically immortal status, folks! Jean and the Phoenix Force? That relationship's a wild ride. It began waaaaay back in X-Men #101 (Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum), when becoming the Phoenix was like this rebirth. But then, her death at the Dark Phoenix Saga's end (Uncanny X-Men #137; Claremont, John Byrne) shook things up; really, it reshaped so much of Jean's future and impacted how death was handled within Marvel. And this changed everything within the comics!

Then, that infamous retcon in Fantastic Four #286 (Claremont, Byrne)! It turns out the actual Phoenix impersonated Jean the whole time during certain critical plot events and those changes to the continuity involved were enormous and impacted so much storytelling after these very early events in Jean's very unique life! That didn't, however, prevent more later deaths—in New X-Men #150X-Men: Phoenix - Endsong – further showcasing the vast complexities involved. Jean's resurrections only served to continue adding more layers into this very compelling saga that eventually ends into the recent storylines within the comic books. And, yes, that massive Phoenix Resurrection saga in 2017-18 from Matthew Rosenberg and that team was involved too. We have so many stories with different perspectives and interpretations and storylines which adds to the significance and impact!

Jean's crazy new powers shake up how stories work. Death's used in comics to make things dramatic; it's supposed to generate anticipation;  raising stakes and generating anticipation amongst readers and generating those dramatic elements that most enjoy and expect from major crossover comics!   Jean's adventures proved death could be meaningless— she always came back. Remember Krakoa? That's when death wasn’t a thing. It added this bizarre layer and this is why it generated so much controversy. But the impact was immediate; completely revolutionizing many storylines which changed how various writers explored plots and stories in these recent comics.

This recent power boost might massively affect future Phoenix storylines. What do you do with a character that simply can't die? Even the events during Krakoa's lifetime highlights many similarities – focusing on relationships between that society and the rest of the world.  This parallels what Jean faces now. And that's why she is in so much danger; she simply can’t die! The hate and fear shown toward the Phoenix – especially from bigshots like Gladiator – sets the stage for major galactic conflict!

Jean Grey got a ludicrously OP power-up, highlighting how those involved in this recent Marvel storyline, specifically this writer and the artists involved are trying to provide something completely new and completely game-changing in modern superhero comic writing.  The creators totally realize just how major these implications are—and chose this seriously wild way of making those previous plot issues into something entirely new; bringing forth an entirely new storyline, freeing Jean to explore new dimensions unlike what was shown before. That alone sets this version entirely apart and totally revolutionizes how writers explore storytelling within X-Men and within other parts of Marvel!
