Doctor Doom Is Back and Ready to Wreck Shop in Marvel Comics
It seems like everybody is hyped about Robert Downey Jr. finally returning to the Marvel Universe! It's not as Tony Stark this time though, no no no, RDJ is stepping into the shoes of everyone's favorite (or maybe least favorite) metal-headed supervillain, Doctor Doom! Talk about a change of pace, right? Doom's been making some serious waves lately, like becoming the new Sorcerer Supreme after that big Blood Hunt event and he's got a ton of exciting things planned for the future!
With Robert Downey Jr. joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Doctor Doom, fans are super hyped to see what Marvel has in store. This new era for Doom is not just in movies though, he's already a dominating force in the Comics. There are tons of variant covers featuring Doom dismantling Iron Man and tons of other heroes in the Marvel Universe. You gotta see the way he's kicking the butts of all these characters, it's pretty epic, even if it's all just on these covers, it looks totally badass!
Iron Man and Doctor Doom - A Story of Hate
Iron Man and Doctor Doom have this super interesting history. These two always clash, you know? But what’s exciting about Robert Downey Jr.'s casting is that the Doctor Doom comic stories will likely see a shift in direction with these events from the movies having a major impact on their shared future. If they even exist in a shared future since Iron Man (and RDJ) aren't officially in the Comics yet.
It’s like a story that's never been told, even though it already has. Maybe Downey's involvement as Doom in the MCU will change how people look at Doom in the comics! RDJ as Doctor Doom is huge and is likely to bring an exciting new energy to Doom, he already brings energy to anything he does after all.
A World Under Doom: What's Next?
Remember Doctor Strange's Blood Hunt event? Doctor Doom won't be taking up magic without a good old-fashioned battle. Turns out, he decided to keep the Sorcerer Supreme title, even after saving the world with it, typical Doom! Marvel also dropped hints of what's coming with "One World Under Doom", a storyline set to explode in 2025! Buckle up, it's going to be insane.
Is Doom a good guy, a bad guy? There is really only one way to figure it out, but we will have to wait. And it's safe to say that Marvel is seriously pushing Doctor Doom to become the biggest bad guy of the universe. Like he's ready to take on everyone, maybe even conquer them.
