DC's New Absolute Batmobile: Bigger Than Batman Himself!

Okay, so we already saw DC's super-sized Absolute Batman, a departure that got some seriously mixed reactions. But wait until you see this; prepare yourselves folks. The creative team isn't done surprising anyone yet; making their biggest impact with the unveiling of the Absolute Batmobile! This is truly gigantic, really massive and insanely larger than what has been typically portrayed in any other comics and shows how much the changes really mean.

DC Comics debuted it during a panel called “DC's Absolute/All In Universes” at the New York Comic Con. Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta's Absolute Batman is reinventing Batman's mythos completely, which includes using these unexpected and surprisingly refreshing design choices to reinterpret his entire character history. Dragotta’s official art shows a Batmobile that's larger than anything we've seen. Prepare yourselves; it really is insane!

You can see this for yourself; but you'll need to grab a copy of Absolute Batman #2 (arriving November 13th) This new ride looks exactly like what it sounds like– less “car,” more “truck/tank”! And this perfectly fits Snyder and Dragotta's "engineer-who-lifts" concept in this Absolute Universe take on Bruce Wayne. This means there are important changes!

A Batmobile for a Different Kind of Batman: Brute Strength on Wheels!

This version of Batman is intensely different and the massive, imposing design isn't simply aesthetic: this gigantic ride, those choices behind its sheer size and incredible weight are meant to emphasize these aspects for that reason, showing that certain storytelling directions, despite what has been done previously would be something worth experimenting with and it would completely redefine Batman himself, reimagining Batman to appeal to those people seeking something different.

The Absolute Universe rewrites Batman’s lore; its changes create this incredibly imposing and much more muscular look that didn't sit well with some fans. They’re equally upset about his super-blocky logo. But the Batmobile? That also is totally enormous; changing another core element to emphasize the shift entirely. The resulting changes totally fits the “engineer who lifts” concept.

It really fits Batman's new fighting style–brutal and violent. It uses his strength in place of tech; those details were really meant to help establish the character’s differences more strongly. His monstrous truck shows he's all about power. Dragotta’s art depicts this thing casually tossing aside cars— the scale alone emphasizes that powerful force, easily dispatching enemies; Gotham’s criminals should be worried, folks, that's certainly something to be afraid of. This design works beautifully.

Our Thoughts: Does this Giant Batmobile Actually Work?

This might be a radical departure, yet it totally works for this specific new universe, the kind of grittier and realistic Batman re-imagining sought for by creators.

Snyder and Dragotta reinvent Batman, changing several established plot points, redefining characters for something entirely unique to make Batman more interesting. That new giant Batmobile matches this entirely.

Absolute Batman’s super-sized approach might sound a little outlandish, but the creativity displayed is quite noteworthy! It is noteworthy that so many established characteristics of Batman would get challenged through the re-imagining of various character aspects for something unique and quite powerful, easily fitting into modern tastes, without ruining this legacy completely. The creators demonstrated great foresight and a strong ability to adapt elements into what makes the new continuity work and create many compelling changes that the fans will greatly enjoy.
